A Tediously Accurate Scale Model of the Solar

I came across a link to this recently. A model of the solar system depicted with the following: Earth's moon = 1 pixel

Gives a good persepective on just how huge the solar system is, and how empty space is. As it points out at the end when it reaches Pluto, the webpage would be 6,000+ times as wide before you hit the next solar system.

Enjoy!

Incidentally, for sale somewhere online is a ten volume set of books illustrating much the same concept. So volume 1 starts with the Sun and I think reaches out to Mars (also illustrates asteroids IIRC), volume 2 has Jupiter, and the remaining planets are spread out over the remaining 8 volumes. So there are a couple of volumes with nothing but black pages all the way through.
