To state Muslims 'grovel in the dirt' while referring to their prostration habits in prayer, is an extremely derogatory, disrespectful remark aimed at a whole religious congregation.

A "congregation" is a group of people, not a behavior. My remark could not be more directly focused on the behavior of which I expressed disapproval - vividly, I hope. If I had said something about the congregation apart from its behavior, then you might have a point.

We have a nearby thread about another "whole religions congregation," the Westboro Baptist Church and some of its members' prayer behavior, picketing funerals. I find this behavior to be grotesque. Let me guess, that's a racist remark, too, derogatory and disrespectful of that whole religious congregation.

But, as before, I have said not a word about any people who are Westboro Baptists, apart from characterizing a voluntary behavior in a way that they might find offensive. One can only hope.

I do not share another poster's sentiment that Islam is Westboro (except for numbers). I do, however, observe that they are both, in fact, "religious congregations." If the chosen prayer behavior of Muslims is exempt from vivid criticism, then the chosen prayer behavior of Westboro Baptist is exempt from vivid criticism, too.

Going by the mentality of some people here, the Quran is very racist towards nonbelievers.

Muhammad Sarwar: It will melt their skins and all that is in their bellies.

Shakir: Surely Allah will make those who believe and do good deeds enter gardens beneath which rivers flow; they shall be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and (with) pearls, and their garments therein shall be of silk.

Muhammad Sarwar: God will admit the righteously striving believers to the gardens wherein streams flow. There they will be decked with gold bracelets, pearls, and garments of silk,

Mohsin Khan: Truly, Allah will admit those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, to Gardens underneath which rivers flow (in Paradise), wherein they will be adorned with bracelets of gold and pearls and their garments therein will be of silk.

Arberry: God shall surely admit those who believe and do righteous deeds into gardens underneath which rivers flow; therein they shall be adorned with bracelets of gold and with pearls, and their apparel there shall be of silk;

22:24

Sahih International: And they had been guided [in worldly life] to good speech, and they were guided to the path of the Praiseworthy.

Pickthall: They are guided unto gentle speech; they are guided unto the path of the Glorious One.

Yusuf Ali: For they have been guided (in this life) to the purest of speeches; they have been guided to the Path of Him Who is Worthy of (all) Praise.

Shakir: And they are guided to goodly words and they are guided into the path of the Praised One.

Muhammad Sarwar: for they were guided to speak the noblest words and follow the praiseworthy path.

Mohsin Khan: And they are guided (in this world) unto goodly speech (i.e. La ilaha ill-Allah, Alhamdu lillah, recitation of the Quran, etc.) and they are guided to the Path of Him (i.e. Allah's Religion of Islamic Monotheism), Who is Worthy of all praises.

Arberry: and they; shall be guided unto goodly speech, and they shall be guided unto the path of the All-laudable.

22:25

Shakir: Surely (as for) those who disbelieve, and hinder (men) from Allah's way and from the Sacred Mosque which We have made equally for all men, (for) the dweller therein and (for) the visitor, and whoever shall incline therein to wrong unjustly, We will make him taste of a painful chastisement.

Muhammad Sarwar: A painful torment awaits the pagans who create obstacles in the way that leads to God and the Sacred Mosque - which We have made for those who dwell nearby and foreigners alike - and those who commit evil and injustice therein.

Mohsin Khan: Verily! Those who disbelieve and hinder (men) from the Path of Allah, and from Al-Masjid-al-Haram (at Makkah) which We have made (open) to (all) men, the dweller in it and the visitor from the country are equal there [as regards its sanctity and pilgrimage (Hajj and 'Umrah)]. And whoever inclines to evil actions therein or to do wrong (i.e. practise polytheism and leave Islamic Monotheism), him We shall cause to taste a painful torment.

Arberry: Those who disbelieve, and bar from God's way and the Holy Mosque that We have appointed equal unto men, alike him who cleaves to it and the tent-dweller, and whosoever purposes to violate it wrongly, We shall let him taste a painful chastisement.

Yusuf Ali: Their reward is with Allah: Gardens of Eternity, beneath which rivers flow; they will dwell therein for ever; Allah well pleased with them, and they with Him: all this for such as fear their Lord and Cherisher.

Shakir: Their reward with their Lord is gardens of perpetuity beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein for ever; Allah is well pleased with them and they are well pleased with Him; that is for him who fears his Lord.

Muhammad Sarwar: Their reward from their Lord will be the gardens of Eden wherein streams flow and wherein they will live forever. God will be pleased with them and they will be pleased with Him. This (reward) is for those who fear their Lord.

Mohsin Khan: Their reward with their Lord is 'Adn (Eden) Paradise (Gardens of Eternity), underneath which rivers flow, they will abide therein forever, Allah Well-Pleased with them, and they with Him. That is for him who fears his Lord.

Arberry: their recompense is with their Lord-Gardens of Eden, underneath which rivers flow, therein dwelling for ever and ever. God is well-pleased with them, and they are well-pleased with Him; that is for him who fears his Lord.

How much more of that type of nonsense will I have to watch? It's all confirmation bias. Like attributing natural disasters to the wraith of god or whatever.

In the Bible, Solomon talks about ants (Proverbs 6: 6-8; 30: 24-25), while in the Koran, ants talk about Solomon (see the video davros posted).

Allah has a sense of humor.

Quran 7:64

Sahih International: But they denied him, so We saved him and those who were with him in the ship. And We drowned those who denied Our signs. Indeed, they were a blind people.

Pickthall: But they denied him, so We saved him and those with him in the ship, and We drowned those who denied Our tokens. Lo! they were blind folk.

Yusuf Ali: But they rejected him, and We delivered him, and those with him, in the Ark: but We overwhelmed in the flood those who rejected Our signs. They were indeed a blind people!

Shakir: But they called him a liar, so We delivered him and those with him in the ark, and We drowned those who rejected Our communications; surely they were a blind people.

Muhammad Sarwar: They accused him of telling lies. So We saved him and his companions in an ark and drowned those who called Our revelations mere lies. They were, no doubt, a blind people.

Mohsin Khan: But they belied him, so We saved him and those along with him in the ship, and We drowned those who belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). They were indeed a blind people.

Arberry: But they cried him lies; so We delivered him, and those with him, in the Ark, and We drowned those who cried lies to Our signs; assuredly they were a blind people.

Quran 10:73

Sahih International: And they denied him, so We saved him and those with him in the ship and made them successors, and We drowned those who denied Our signs. Then see how was the end of those who were warned.

Pickthall: But they denied him, so We saved him and those with him in the ship, and made them viceroys (in the earth), while We drowned those who denied Our revelations. See then the nature of the consequence for those who had been warned.

Yusuf Ali: They rejected Him, but We delivered him, and those with him, in the Ark, and We made them inherit (the earth), while We overwhelmed in the flood those who rejected Our Signs. Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not)!

Shakir: But they rejected him, so We delivered him and those with him in the ark, and We made them rulers and drowned those who rejected Our communications; see then what was the end of the (people) warned.

Muhammad Sarwar: They rejected Noah. Then We saved him and his people in the Ark to make them the successors of the rest. The others, who had called Our revelations lies, were drowned. Consider the fate of those who (rejected) Our warnings!

Mohsin Khan: They denied him, but We delivered him, and those with him in the ship, and We made them generations replacing one after another, while We drowned those who belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). Then see what was the end of those who were warned.

Arberry: But they cried him lies; so We delivered him, and those with him, in the Ark, and We appointed them as viceroys, and We drowned those who cried lies to Our signs; then behold how was the end of them that were warned!

Quran 11:37

Sahih International: And construct the ship under Our observation and Our inspiration and do not address Me concerning those who have wronged; indeed, they are [to be] drowned."

Pickthall: Build the ship under Our eyes and by Our inspiration, and speak not unto Me on behalf of those who do wrong. Lo! they will be drowned.

Yusuf Ali: "But construct an Ark under Our eyes and Our inspiration, and address Me no (further) on behalf of those who are in sin: for they are about to be overwhelmed (in the Flood)."

Shakir: And make the ark before Our eyes and (according to) Our revelation, and do not speak to Me in respect of those who are unjust; surely they shall be drowned.

Muhammad Sarwar: but to build the Ark under the supervision and guidance of his Lord. He was also told not to address any words to Him concerning the unjust for they were all to be drowned.

Mohsin Khan: "And construct the ship under Our Eyes and with Our Inspiration, and address Me not on behalf of those who did wrong; they are surely to be drowned."

Arberry: Make thou the Ark under Our eyes, and as We reveal; and address Me not concerning those who have done evil; they shall be drowned.'

Quran 11:40

Sahih International: [so it was], until when Our command came and the oven overflowed, We said, "Load upon the ship of each [creature] two mates and your family, except those about whom the word has preceded, and [include] whoever has believed." But none had believed with him, except a few.

Pickthall: (Thus it was) till, when Our commandment came to pass and the oven gushed forth water, We said: Load therein two of every kind, a pair (the male and female), and thy household, save him against whom the word hath gone forth already, and those who believe. And but a few were they who believed with him.

Yusuf Ali: At length, behold! there came Our command, and the fountains of the earth gushed forth! We said: "Embark therein, of each kind two, male and female, and your family - except those against whom the word has already gone forth,- and the Believers." but only a few believed with him.

Shakir: Until when Our command came and water came forth from the valley, We said: Carry in it two of all things, a pair, and your own family-- except those against whom the word has already gone forth, and those who believe. And there believed not with him but a few.

Muhammad Sarwar: When at last Our decree was fulfilled, water gushed forth from the Oven (in Noah's house). We told him to carry in the Ark a pair (male and female) from every species, his family - except those who were destined to perish - and the believers. No one believed in him, except a few.

Mohsin Khan: (So it was) till then there came Our Command and the oven gushed forth (water like fountains from the earth). We said: "Embark therein, of each kind two (male and female), and your family, except him against whom the Word has already gone forth, and those who believe. And none believed with him, except a few."

Arberry: Until, when Our command came, and the Oven boiled, We said, 'Embark in it two of every kind, and thy family -- except for him against whom the word has already been spoken and whosoever believes.' And there believed not with him except a few.

Quran 11:44

Sahih International: And it was said, "O earth, swallow your water, and O sky, withhold [your rain]." And the water subsided, and the matter was accomplished, and the ship came to rest on the [mountain of] Judiyy. And it was said, "Away with the wrongdoing people."

Pickthall: And it was said: O earth! Swallow thy water and, O sky! be cleared of clouds! And the water was made to subside. And the commandment was fulfilled. And it (the ship) came to rest upon (the mount) Al-Judi and it was said: A far removal for wrongdoing folk!

Yusuf Ali: Then the word went forth: "O earth! swallow up thy water, and O sky! Withhold (thy rain)!" and the water abated, and the matter was ended. The Ark rested on Mount Judi, and the word went forth: "Away with those who do wrong!"

Shakir: And it was said: O earth, swallow down your water, and O cloud, clear away; and the water was made to abate and the affair was decided, and the ark rested on the Judi, and it was said: Away with the unjust people.

Muhammad Sarwar: Then the earth was told to swallow-up its water and the sky was ordered to stop raining. The water abated and God's command had been fulfilled. The Ark came to rest on Mount Judi. A voice said, "The unjust people are far away from the mercy of God."

Mohsin Khan: And it was said: "O earth! Swallow up your water, and O sky! Withhold (your rain)." And the water was diminished (made to subside) and the Decree (of Allah) was fulfilled (i.e. the destruction of the people of Nuh (Noah). And it (the ship) rested on Mount Judi, and it was said: "Away with the people who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doing)!"

Arberry: And it was said, 'Earth, swallow thy waters; and, heaven, abate!' And the waters subsided, the affair was accomplished, and the Ark settled on El-Judi, and it was said: 'Away with the people of the evildoers!'

Shakir: And Nuh said: My Lord! leave not upon the land any dweller from among the unbelievers:

Muhammad Sarwar: Noah said, "Lord, do not leave a single disbeliever on earth;

We must understand, in any religion, that many passages are poetic ways to talk. You cannot take all of it literally. For example. In the Qur'an it says 'God has a face'....but God cannot be likened to a human being and does not have a body. 'There is nothing like Him' (Qur'an 42:11). Certain passages cannot be taken literally. Only certain people are able to interpret. And for those not qualified they are encouraged to follow the example of an eminent scholar or marja al-taqlid. Just like other religions....Many prefer to understand their holybooks in literal ways and many do not. Many want to look at their holy books in two ways and interpret and express anew in ways that are directly relevant to the times.

They who are not qualified are encoraged by whom?

If someone is not qualified to read the book, then how is she qualified qualified to identify an "emnient scholar"? Do Sunni Muslims accept the advice of a marja al-taqlid?

That's a problem isn't it. All scriptures are like someone dumped a bunch of mismatching puzzle pieces in one box. You can never get the right picture. You'd think that we'd have been given a basic instruction manual. Something with easy to understand rules and regulation pertaining to balanced human rights. With what we could expect to happen to our bodies/minds as we age. Instead we have books that are basically just a bunch of mixed styles. Some metaphors, other literal, fantasy, toss in some sci-fi, hello scripture.

Well, it's like they are all out of place and the different parts of the bible have to be aligned right in your mind to let the river flow through them. So it's like placing the earth in the right place so it works right. The river is there and naturally forms, but it needs reproval to actually move the right directions or else it will dam up. It just needs to be fixed.

It's the Dopamine that flows like a river in your Brain that's making sense of things that make no sense otherwise.

Look at this text not of your faith.

Quran 71:15

Sahih International: Do you not consider how Allah has created seven heavens in layers

Pickthall: See ye not how Allah hath created seven heavens in harmony,

Yusuf Ali: "'See ye not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another,

Shakir: Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens, one above another,

Muhammad Sarwar: "Have you not seen that God has created the seven heavens one above the other

Mohsin Khan: See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another,

Arberry: Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another,

The Seven Heavens are the Seven Classical Planets of antiquity.

Just like addicts of drugs, and gambling, people are chasing a Dopamine high associated with reward programing in our Brain's.It's just that drugs are an instant reward, gambling is a maybe reward, and Religion is "I better follow this Book" for a final reward.

To borrow an analogy from recent posts, perhaps it's not that the puzzle pieces are mismatched, but rather that we just need to search a little too find a picture of what the completed image is supposed to look like, and once we have that the process is pretty straight forward, except for those who haven't got the image and still argue what the picture is supposed to be? ??

I wonder if you actually believe what you say.

Enlighten us on what does Quran 71:15 mean.

LOL!

Quran 67:3

Sahih International: [And] who created seven heavens in layers. You do not see in the creation of the Most Merciful any inconsistency. So return [your] vision [to the sky]; do you see any breaks?

Pickthall: Who hath created seven heavens in harmony. Thou (Muhammad) canst see no fault in the Beneficent One's creation; then look again: Canst thou see any rifts?

Yusuf Ali: He Who created the seven heavens one above another: No want of proportion wilt thou see in the Creation of (Allah) Most Gracious. So turn thy vision again: seest thou any flaw?

Shakir: Who created the seven heavens one above another; you see no incongruity in the creation of the Beneficent Allah; then look again, can you see any disorder?

Muhammad Sarwar: It is He who has created seven heavens, one above the other. You can see no flaw in the creation of the Beneficent God. Look again. Can you see faults?

Mohsin Khan: Who has created the seven heavens one above another, you can see no fault in the creations of the Most Beneficent. Then look again: "Can you see any rifts?"

Arberry: who created seven heavens one upon another. Thou seest not in the creation of the All-merciful any imperfection. Return thy gaze; seest thou any fissure?

67:4

Sahih International: Then return [your] vision twice again. [Your] vision will return to you humbled while it is fatigued.

Pickthall: Then look again and yet again, thy sight will return unto thee weakened and made dim.

Yusuf Ali: Again turn thy vision a second time: (thy) vision will come back to thee dull and discomfited, in a state worn out.

Shakir: Then turn back the eye again and again; your look shall come back to you confused while it is fatigued.

Muhammad Sarwar: Look twice (and keep on looking), your eyes will only become dull and tired.

Mohsin Khan: Then look again and yet again, your sight will return to you in a state of humiliation and worn out.

Arberry: Then return thy gaze again, and again, and thy gaze comes back to thee dazzled, aweary.

67:5

Sahih International: And We have certainly beautified the nearest heaven with stars and have made [from] them what is thrown at the devils and have prepared for them the punishment of the Blaze.

Pickthall: And verily We have beautified the world's heaven with lamps, and We have made them missiles for the devils, and for them We have prepared the doom of flame.

As you know, being mindful of the spirit helps us see things more clear.

Ok let me just clarify one thing....

Muslims believe jinns are made of smokeless fire

They have free will as we do

Families and lives

They can see us on our level of existance, we can only see them if they wish for us to see them.

There are good and evil jinns out there..

They have the power to possess humans

They exist on another plain of existance

Oh and they apparently can teleport from location to location

Angels have no free will

Satan was a jinn and his pride got the better of him when he refused to bow to adam

As he felt jinns were superior to adam.

Now why would god design missiles to keep jinns away??

If your a god fearing person his power is absolute, am sure he doesnt send faxes emails or memos to angels

Which can then apparently be intercepted by jinn

Im muslim and this is the first time iv heard of a celestisl patriot missile system
