Random11 Posted March 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2014 Hi, I was looking at some books* which I had passed down to me from my Great Grandad (he was a mason) and noticed a watermark (FLATFORD MILL) I was wandering if any Freemasons based in the UK would have any information for me on what the connection is between Flatford Mill (not a paper mill) and the Masons, It would be greatly appreciated if you could message me privately. Thanks *The book is over 60 years old and it only appears in one book
Travelling Man Posted March 20, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 20, 2014 The best I can do is that the most iconic and famous of paintings done of the Flatford Mill was done by John Constable in 1816. Constable was a famous artist - and a long-time member of Freemasonry... and it is frequently seen that Freemasons have a habit of purchasing/collecting artworks done by other Freemasons. I have several works by Freemasons, myself - though nothing as beautiful as Constable's work.

Likely Guy Posted April 17, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 17, 2014 Well no not really, it was a genuine question asking about a secret society, in a secret society forum. So unless you have something to help me with p*** off!!! You post a topic and don't care to respond for almost a month. You post a topic and provide no detail, i.e.: 1. What is the title of the book,? 2. Who published the book? 3. When was the book published? 4. Is the book itself Freemason related? 5. As Rashore asked, can you provide an image of the watermark? You do know what a watermark is don't you? So, we'll expect another response from you in another month or so, or not?
Likely Guy Posted April 17, 2014 #8 Share Posted April 17, 2014 (edited) I forgot to forego the prerequisite smiley. Which, by definition, I have done, and I should know better. My apologies. Edited April 17, 2014 by Likely Guy

(Printers) Ltd., 5, Ashton Road North, Birmingham,6. 3.1951 4.Yes, it is a By-laws book for that Lodge 5. Random11 Posted April 19, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted April 19, 2014 well, I do have my moments haha All I got so far (probably nothing) but when I was trying to research Flatford Mill I came across an FSC website and someone wrote about, remembering seeing Prince Philip arrive by helicopter one dark evening in the early 1950s. I know that Prince Philip is alleged to be involved with the Freemasons, so if that got anyone's interest, post away XD. (If any of that makes sense lol)

Random11 Posted April 21, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted April 21, 2014 Here's an extract from their website: "Field Studies Council, FSC, is the only environmental education charity dedicated solely to providing informative and enjoyable opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to discover, explore, be inspired by, and understand the natural environment."
