Still Waters Posted March 30, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2014 Research suggests the Black Death was caused by pneumonic - not bubonic - plague, as skeletons of victims found as part of Crossrail project give up their secrets. http://www.telegraph...ir-secrets.html
+susieice Posted March 30, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2014 Glad I checked before posting this. Just found this article about the skeletons. http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/london-skeletons-reveal-secrets-of-the-black-death/2014/03/29/f52ecb02-b79e-11e3-9eb3-c254bdb4414d_story.html
Keel M. Posted March 30, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 30, 2014 I didn't find any mention of the change in pneumonic vs bubonic. Did I overlook?
Mekelyn Posted April 3, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 3, 2014 In the first article/video from Still Waters, it said that he (Dr. Brooks) identified what he considers was a mutation from the bubonic plague, borne on rats, to the pneumonic variant... He does not specify how it may have mutated or why. I am curious though, if it was the pneumonic variation of the plague, then why is the 1348 pandemic called the "Black Plague"? The name suggests the black buboes that appeared on the body.
