Meet the Indian man hoping to find fame and fortune by showcasing his unusual appetite for eating bricks.

Pakkirappa Hunagundi suffers from a rare eating disorder and says he is addicted to eating only bricks, gravel and mud.

‘I only like mud and bricks, nothing else,’ ‘I will eat it because it is my habit. I need it every day. I can’t stop.

‘My mother asks me not to eat it, but I won’t stop. Even if you give me fried chicken, I want mud at any cost.’

The 30-year-old has been eating bricks since the age of ten.

He now eats up to one brick a day and three kilos of mud and gravel to fulfill his craving.

It is believed he suffers from a condition known as Pica, the persistent eating of non-food items with no nutritional value.

Isn't there a condition that compels people to eat non-food items?

It simply is not normal to eat that all the time and I doubt anyone can exist on just mud and clay. Sorry but I do not accept all of it at face value.

I suspect he eats more traditional food products in addition to his geophagy.

We are not plants, we do not derive our m\nourishment via photosynthesis.

We are animals, more precisely, we are mammals and get our sustenance from food.

We cannot extract the nutrients we need from eating buckets of dirt so..I think this article if rife with bovine expulsions.

Yeah but most kids don't make daily meals out of it. :P

After a few mud cakes they're pretty much done with it.

Isn't Pica usually caused by an iron deficiency?

Give the guy some vitamin pills and he'll be back to normal maybe. Not sure how he expects to make money with this...

Busking perhaps? Surely any money he can raise will just go to feed his habit. Addiction is a vicious cycle.

Hope he doesn`t move into a wooden hut...he would starve to death.

I can understand why bricks and mud are so delicious. That sticky crunchiness of wet sand, like chocolate-dipped wafers, and the hard brick melting in the mouth as you chew and grind it against your teeth like eating hard-crusted bread.
