Mysterious black ring filmed over UK

16-year-old Georgina Heap observed the peculiar phenomenon for three minutes before it disappeared.

The black ring appeared in the sky over Leamington Spa on Friday evening while Georgina was outside playing tennis with her mother.

I remember seeing one of these in a book when I was kid; over a series of six or so pictures the entire thing eventually filled in with a cloud. The book was trying to push it as a UFO and to be fair it was rather otherworldly. I have no idea how much was know about these events at the time.

The transformer itself fell onto a truck, crushing its toolbox and setting the truck on fire. Awesome!"

It does look like a votex ring. I'd never heard of that phenomena before.

It does not appear to be going up very fast, so it probably was not explosives involved. Also the girl probably would have heard the explosion. Maybe a very hot, but small fire, that made some initial black smoke, but very little after getting started?

Well, I think the little girl in The Twilight Zone who keeps the little town with people in it has grown up and started smoking. Smoke circles.

Here it is cropped and 4 It is neat how it threads back into itself--going narrower as one goes clockwise.

The far right is best at showing the narrowing.
