Conservatives vs Liberals

This study was clearly an attack on conservatives. Grouping people into one of 2 groups is horribly wrong. I think I lean towards being a "conservative", but I agree with much of what most "liberals" push. I grew up going to a catholic grade school, but I don't go to a catholic church. I have a few guns, but I also support some gun restrictions. I don't own an electric car, but I support the technology. I have no issues with anyone because of their race. I don't live in the south but I do live outside city limits on 7.5 acres of land and have chickens. I don't hunt, but I like venison. I am in favor of government assistance, but I think it's out of control at this point. I don't mind higher taxes if neccesary, but I'd rather see it through a national sales tax.

What am I?

Human?

Despite others always trying to cram people into tiny, little boxes you are like most of us, Myles. :tu: It's not as obvious as a neo-Nazi saying they "don't like your kind", but it's exactly the same. Notice how the opening poster became indignant when someone indicated "studies" show blacks have lower grade point averages than whites, yet touts a study and crows about how obviously ignorant Republicans are. The hubris is phenomenal.

Disclaimer: By the way, I'm not a Republican, but I wouldn't take it as an insult if someone were to call me one of "those people".

The point there is that most people are not dogmatic, they might be liberal or conservative but perfectly capable of seeing whether the "other side" has a valid point.

The closed of mind, whether conservative or liberal are incapable of that... and that defines them... not their political tendency.

I agree. Unfortunately most people view each side as they are portrayed by the vocal zealots on both sides. Typically normal people don't hollar out there political beliefs so loud. Then of course there are TV and radio hosts who are baiting and loud for ratings. Makes people believe what they say is true. I don't even think Rush believes much of what he spews, but he knows his target and does it for ratings. Same with many "liberal" hosts. It's entertainment and should be taken as such.

You are a truly smart person. One who doesn't assign a label to themselves. We seem to have the EXACT same views, but I am called a liberal daily here.

You truly make me laugh Michelle. Cry about blacks and affirmative action yet you are all up in the paycheck thread demanding equal pay for women. Women that (as studies have shown) are not as smart or as strong as men. So, by your tone in that comment, you should agree that a white male should be paid approximately double what you get paid.

Deflection? There was no question, just a silly comment from you. There was also no insult. The study was actually posted in this thread..men are smarter than women.

A poor conclusion then, drawn from the results of one study, as if that's the only study you needed.

So what about another study?

http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/12/03/mens-and-womens-brains-fundamentally-different-study-finds-one-better-at-focusing-one-better-at-multitasking/

Multitasking is more productive. Complementarity is smarter than having more payroll expense because you only hired the "smarter" sex. When IQ tests aren't focus based and require splitting focus up into two or three simultaneous tasks, will it be okay to go to Washington DC and plug the new results into another Bill? What if there's a study that shows whites are smarter than blacks, do we need federal laws and letters to address that?

Individuals are different in their intelligence, therefore it should be obvious that the entire concept of "Equality in Pay" goes right out the window already.

The hubris is phenomenal.

That, coupled with extreme intolerance is my biggest problem with the left and is essentially the intent of this thread. It's quite obvious I'm no fan of most left wing policies but it's probably less obvious that I have no problem talking about the issues. I'm often in heated arguments mainly because there really is no talking with them. They'll refuse to give the time of day to any opposing idea even if to just talk it out. We end up in arguments because at the slightest challenge to their ideology they'll retort with insults and flat out extreme nonsense about what I truly want. I don't like their idea so that means I'm not intelligent, not worth considering, murderous or wishing for the death of others, racist, homophobic. Attack and diminish the opponent is their one true way and, to credit you M, deflection. Consideration and common sense are not.

You are a truly smart person. One who doesn't assign a label to themselves. We seem to have the EXACT same views, but I am called a liberal daily here.

If you have left wing ideas that don't agree with their right wing ideas; you're a "liberal". It really is as simple as that.

How many times did Merc respond to me with his typical BS reply of "your president Obama". I never voted for that clown, but that doesn't matter. And by extension, suddenly we're not a Republican anymore even though that's how we vote. What a cluster **** for figuring our politics out correctly.

If I happen to think for myself and incidentally arrive at anything that dares smack of left wing ideology, I'm a liberal too. As if there's no valid basis for it, there's never a good reason for ever arriving there, and if we only excoriated the left wing in America, our problems would be solved.

So who cares what they call you? I'll be a "liberal" for them, their political labels don't bother me. It just shows where their brains are. Stuck on political labels. And Br Cornelius might as well be a social conservative too, carrying on about the virtue and power of society like he does. Government coming in and trying to own all these social issues for us, that stinks of Socialism badly enough. A bunch of Statists fighting over their preferred statism, that's all it is. Some prefer the right wing stink, some prefer the left. Where I land is purely incidental because neither one of these two stinks alone smell good enough for this country.

Maybe I should clarify why I've labeled orange the way I do. It isn't so much about what he believes because he does seem to float. It's how he reacts to issues. When agreeing with a left issue he's highly defensive on the position and offensive on the opposition and expels lots of supporting reasons. When agreeing with a right issue he's very lax and passive on the position and shows no concern to fight for it and very often rails solely against conservatives just for the sake of it like this thread. I simply see the scales tipped to one side. That's it. I'm not just saying it for no reason or just to say it.

I notice the hypocrisy too. They think that minority groups are off limits while majority groups are fair game. It's past time to lose the double standards and special treatment. Replace the PC playbook with the Golden Rule.

I couldn't, in good conscience, like this post. You did what I've been complaining about...lumping all the people of a group as if they are one. The louder, more obnoxious ones do seem to share those traits though. :tu:

There is a reason I react the way I do. The threads that conservatives start are absolutely ridiculous and filled with mindless rhetoric. "Obama the dictator", "this regime", "Odummy"...I just can't support the way the right states their cases on here. There is never an attempt to supply proof other than a Youtube video made in someone's basement. I can't support the issues of the right on most threads, because, quite frankly, it is almost embarrassing to be siding with some of the people in the argument. I'm not going to like someone's post when it looks like it was written by a 12 year old..

Grouping people into one of 2 groups is horribly wrong.

It just depends on how it is used. If you use it to segregate and attack, then it is wrong. If you use it to categorize and observe, then it is not. I think that the human mind does come in two basic catagories. One is more evolved and the other is an evolutionary throwback. The conservative mind was how Man evolved above the animals. We formed societies of individuals. The Liberal mind still relies on the flock or school mentality. Now we all partake in competing with one's peers, but for the conservative, it is a matter of social convenience and not an inbred desire. That I think is the main difference and each will be identified by their actions.

Not me. I think this one will be epic.

Reminds me of a thread on a BAMA football site where a poster asked where he could get an official BAMA hat in orange. In case you don't know BAMA fans hate orange (allbarn and the 10rc viles both wear orange). Last time I checked the thread was around 150 pages of people telling him that they do not make BAMA hats in orange. The showed him pink hats (beast cancer awareness), green hats (St Patrick's day), etc. Pretty much every color under the sun, except orange.

I'm sure there are plenty of attempts to enlighten other than a YouTube video shot in someone's basement. Unlike left wing policies which need to be 'proven' relentlessly most right wing policies are a matter of being left alone. What needs proven more? The upsides of today's highly imposing liberalism or the upsides of being left alone conservatism? Doesn't matter. You'll wish to impose your will on me or insult me if I resist. So why don't you use your highly evolved conversational skills and show everybody the proper way to support right wing policies. It's the threads and their awfully embarrisng members here but not the policies, correct? Fact of the matter is that we are all capable of carrying on good talks and debates but things get messy when you show up because you are confrontational. Seriously, what did you expect of this thread. Peace? Ha!
