I remember the loss of The Gaul, and wondered if there are any further developments about the remains found in the cave in Russia.

That's interesting, I knew they'd found the wreck but I didn't know any bodies had been washed ashore. Rather poignant, isn't it. Of course, there are (of course) all sorts of rumours that she was being used for intelligence gathering and that she'd been either captured or sunk by the Russians, but then, when aren't there.

Hmm... the linked story suggests that the DNA tests would be completed in January 2014 - three months ago.

There are SOME stories circulating that the Ukraine chrisis - with the deterioration of diplomatic relations with Russia - could hamper or delay co-operation efforts ?

Tests have again been mentioned in this article dated 11 December 2013, but only to say that they are going to be carried out.

There doesn't seem to be much else more up to date that I can find. Apart from this dated 9 February 2014

A memorial service has taken place to mark 40 years since a fishing trawler sank off the coast of Norway.
