The US is now home to an estimated 200 million European starlings. Thickset and pugnacious, starlings are the bruisers of the avian world. +OverSword Posted April 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 23, 2014 Starlings are really neat birds. I watch them scavenging for food in a park near Pike Place Market. The really have huge personalities. That being said they are a menace as a whole. The flocks get so big that they actually break the branches off of trees at night from the shear weight, and not little branches either.
