John Boehner admits GOP is the problem

questionmark

Recommended Posts

Late yesterday the news broke that House Speaker John Boehner had mocked his House Republican colleagues for inaction on immigration reform, mimicking them as follows: “Ohhhh. Don’t make me do this. Ohhhh. This is too hard.”

This morning, Boehner’s quotes are starting to get wide circulation. So it’s worth noting their real significance to the immigration debate: He has now effectively admitted that the real obstacle to solving the immigration problem is House Republicans.

This runs counter to the endlessly repeated claim that House Republicans won’t act only because they can’t trust Obama. Here’s video of Boehner:

hmmm, I could have told you that ages ago.... from 1981 on in fact...

This story is only talking about comments made concerning immigration reform. But yeah, what Regan said.

See how well that panned out :tu:

Not the most successful president in history despite the GOP trying to sanctify him.

Yes because then he got his pen out and govt spending went through the roof. Oh but Reagan said something so he's exonerated then. Derp.

"GOP is the problem" isn't "government is the problem". The GOP was the solution according to Reagan. According to Boehner, it's the problem.

Seeing how i disagree with most of what Boehner does then perhaps the GOP is doing something right.

Obama is deporting illegals at an unprecedented rate, and Boehner is crying about the GOP's inactive acquiescence. Looks more like it's Boehner vs. the status quo to me.

But, and especially here, I'm sure the GOP-friendly spin will be all it takes to primp this up real cute too. At least McCain still agrees with him right? "They're all God's children."

And which president was it that granted the biggest immunity to ilegal immigrants?

What action is the GOP suppose to take exactly? Is he suggesting we follow the dems plan?

Ah, one who noticed the problem, which happens to be (as with most issues), that the Reps have no plan but saying no. And if one comes up with one it gets nixed by one or more of the factions of the party.

Yeah, we call that checks and balances. Why would the GOP come up with a plan? Even if by some miracle it made it to 0bamas desk, he'd just veto it anyway. Why waste the time.

Besides, we already have a immigration plan. Its just not being enforced.

Because the GOP has the majority in Congress where laws are made? Just as an example. You either go along with what somebody else cooks up or you make your own, really simple. Not getting voted for where it matters is no reason to retire to the sulking corner and throw "NO-tantrums". That is not checks and balances, that is behaving like a 5 year old kid who does not get the candy at the supermarket....with the difference that the kid, if it does not start behaving real fast gets sent to the room (or worse).

How is saying no not a check on power? I thinks its amazing that people think its the governments job to just continualy pass legislation, and that anything that gets in the way of that somehow is a bad thing.

Like I said, there already is a plan, its just not being enforced. Why should we the people listen to either side when neither seem to even be able to go by the laws already in place?

You mean the Rubio plan? That is as dead as Saint Peter. The ghost still wavers around occasionally.

If there is a significant problem you either ignore it or legislate to remove it. The Republicans seem to want to ignore everything but looking after their buddies. How does that build confidence that if they ever do get power again - they will use it responsibly to introduce useful reform ? It doesn't and that is why despite the failings of Obama the Dems are likely to win again next time.

See the problem of stamping your feet and saying NO to everything. It makes you unelectable.

The Government shutdown will not be forgotten in a hurry. If one side refuses to constructively negotiate you destroy the Government - which in turn destroys the country. Such is the stupidity of the TEA party faction - a stupidity which hasn't even escaped the Republicans who don't want to see it all end in catastrophe.

That is because their constituents do not want Amnesty or anything remotely resembling it, and they know awarding bad behavior wrong. They know their mere existence in the US is not only costing US tax payers over a 100 billion of dollars a year, but that they are also siphoning off over 120 billion a year from the US economy and sending it abroad etc...

Most are aware we do not need reform just the laws we already have enforced and an actual secure border.

Both parties have more then proven they dont deserve to be trusted with power.

So the government is going to be destroyed cause they have only been able to pass 80% of all legislation since this administration took over? Thats funny. Well not really. Seems to me our elected are doing a fine job of destroying this country with every budget passed, and every freedom destroying legislation, and executive order brought forth. This country is in big trouble, and it isnt cause they havent been told yes enough, thats for damn sure.
