Still Waters Posted May 7, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2014 People in central Japan are being treated to the sight of one of the wonders of the deep. A rare Megamouth shark is on display at the Marine Science Museum in Shizuoka City. The shark was caught in waters off Shizuoka last month at a depth of about 2,600 feet. This is only the 58th Megamouth ever to have been caught or sighted by man. http://www.wptv.com/...aters-off-japan http://en.wikipedia....Megamouth_shark We have Catti-Brie to thank for this news story

Still Waters Posted May 8, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted May 8, 2014 And were they eating bits of that shark in the video at the link? They seemed to be. I was surprised by that too, perhaps it's meant to bring them good luck or something? Not good luck for the shark though unfortunately.
Mr.United_Nations Posted May 8, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 8, 2014 Oh, such irony.....one more less of one of the rarer species of marine life in our oceans. rare only because of human sightings though, there could at be at least from 100 toa couple of thousand more or less
Still Waters Posted May 8, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted May 8, 2014 rare only because of human sightings though, there could at be at least from 100 toa couple of thousand more or less Good point. Just think of how many times we see something in the media about a 'rare sighting' of something thought to be extinct. Who knows what's still out there that we don't know about, or how many.
