Still Waters Posted May 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2014 A TWITCHING mass of European house crickets clings to a maze of meshed cardboard in a tent about the size of a minivan. They are inside their new home, an abandoned warehouse in Youngstown, Ohio, where they will prosper until being killed, ground into "flour" and baked into cookies and tortilla chips. http://www.newscient...ue#.U4CKT3YfkdU
freetoroam Posted May 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 24, 2014 Suppose it saves on space, they take up less room than cattle.
Kenemet Posted May 24, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 24, 2014 I've eaten them (recently... on a dare... because we were going to demonstrate that they were edible to a group of kids.) They're pretty darn bland. If you didn't know what you were eating, you would assume it was a not-very-flavorful brand of popcorn. Or very crunchy rice cakes. Still Waters Posted May 24, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted May 24, 2014 Whatever the media say about them, I can't ever imagine myself eating insects.
