Still Waters Posted June 6, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2014 Blind cave-dwelling fish are able to discriminate between different quantities, scientists say. The fish, found beneath the deserts in Somalia, learned to identify the greater of two groups of sticks placed at opposite ends of a tank. Researchers say it is the first time non-visual numerical abilities have been shown in fish. http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/27663537
Kenemet Posted June 6, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2014 That's pretty darn fascinating! I can see that being able to tell quantity at some level is still useful to them (more food over THERE than over here) -- interesting that they have this potential.
