A little known fact is that spaceships are blurry in photographs because of the fumes created due to the distillation of Scotch.

Interesting. First step is to measure angular size. Look up angular size of moon that night [use heavens-above.com]], and measure fraction of that size covered by bogie. I 'swagged' it as roughly one arc minute.

Then determine elevation angle, observer to moon.

Assuming range at ISS standard altitude, guess at the el angle 45deg, range is about 600 km. One degree at that range covers approx. 10 km, one minute covers approx. 1/6 km or about 600 ft, in the ballpark for ISS -- which wasn't there.

So assume closer, a/c altitude -- 10,000 m. One degree covers approx. 200 mters, one minute, 3 meters. Too small for aircraft.

We're getting pushed into the drone-sized lower altitude class of objects.

These are all rough approximations, somebody do the detail work and see what the math is trying to tell us.

What a twist, he is saying Americans are the Aliens on the moon. Non-native species and technology that never originated from the moon. To be fair, the moon was once part of the Earth till our planet was smashed by an Venus size planet. I had a feeling it probably harbored life like our planet till they collided, making an extinction event that wiped out any evidence of civilization. Never know because pretty much the whole planet turned into liquid magma.

Just for reference, here's a page from Thierry Legault, a very talented photographer who specialises in crazily difficult targets like the ISS and shuttle in front of the Sun... Scroll down a bit.. (And his website is worth browsing - he has taken some remarkable images..)

Note that the relative sizes could vary somewhat, largely depending on how far away from the camera the ISS was - that could vary significantly depending on how high or low in the sky it was. I'm too lazy to do the maths... Suffice to say that to resolve the shape of the ISS, you need a very serious telephoto lens or to shoot through a good quality telescope.
