keithisco Posted August 5, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 5, 2014 Clashes between African migrants in the French port city of Calais have left more than 50 people injured. A fight which started on Monday evening at a food distribution centre was initially broken up by police but later continued into the night. Hundreds of migrants live in informal camps in the Calais port, trying to cross into Britain illegally. French police have spent months trying to break up the camps, but the migrants say they have nowhere else to go. The latest fight between Sudanese and Eritrean migrants was broken up for the second time once riot police were deployed. A similar incident on Sunday left about 13 people injured. In May authorities attempted to evacuate the migrants from camps built near the port following court rulings, but many have simply moved to different areas in the city Source (BBC): http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-28656773 As once again, Illegal Immigrants in France are not being deported, but being encouraged to stay in the hope that they will get access into the UK, the Mayor of Calais wants to charter a ferry and stuff it full with Illegal Immigrants and send it to Dover!! Unbelievable <_<

keithisco Posted August 5, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted August 5, 2014 why isn't France handing out Asylum applications for citizenship of France. as in accordance with International law. or deporting illegal immigrants on their soil back to country of origin. Exactly!! The Illegals don't request asylum (it must be requested) because they are not fleeing from terror and would not be given asylum. They simply want to become a burden on the state, and France does not want to pay for this (you can't blame them). France is perfectly entitled to round them up and send them off on a transport back to their point of origin, heck I would even support a joint France / UK effort in this regard if it keeps them from our shores. stevewinn Posted August 5, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 5, 2014 (edited) the Africans must be coming into europe via, Spain, Italy or maybe southern France. It amazes me how they hear about the British system from thousands of miles away. but then again, for example which other country allows EU citizens to arrive with no home, but can put their name down on a council housing list - can be housed by the council, and after 5 years they can buy that council house with a 33% discount on the right to buy scheme. Just for information: almost 900,000 north African immigrants have arrived FROM France this last weekend to get the Ferries from Algeciras (Spain, near Gibraltar) to Morocco, Algiers etc. It is the same every year, with virtually no passport checks made due to the vast numbers involved. In 2 weeks time the same will happen but in reverse. The sheer numbers overwhelm Border Control and once entry is granted in Spain (a Schengen Member) then crossing ALL of the internal Schengen Borders is unrecorded. Any "additional" baggage in the form of illegals entering Spain is unknown.
