Still Waters Posted August 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2014 Stargazers have been taking images of the spectacular 'supermoon' overnight. The phenomenon means the moon - which is classified as a 'perigee moon' by astronomers - appears bigger and brighter than usual because of its proximity to the earth. Some were lucky enough to also see the Perseid meteor shower which is caused by the Swift-Tuttle comet shedding part of its celestial body and leaving behind a trail of dust. http://www.bbc.co.uk...ctures-28735682 If anyone has taken pictures of the supermoon and would like to share, feel free to post them in this thread. questionmark Posted August 11, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2014 But I have an idea, why don't we make a thread for the Sept. full moon in advance? That seems to be the last Supermoon for the season. That way all can get their cameras ready.

That seems to be the last Supermoon for the season. That way all can get their cameras ready. I'm not sure starting a thread in advance would be beneficial. There wouldn't be much to post in it until September. Here's a few more I've found - http://www.bbc.co.uk...reland-28737376

Shiloh17 Posted September 6, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 6, 2014 This moon was bright as well as surrounded by wispy clouds, so I took a shot.
