Today made me happy. Day off with the girls. We laughed. We played with the hose. We planted flowers and made a big dent in the jungle that is our yard. :D

What made me happy was that everything went well today....it all flowed...no glitches!

Doesn't happen that often! color.gif

Beethoven wasn't that successful composing operas, but who cares -- we have his glorious instrumental music.

I am not sure many were acknowledged to be great whilst still alive, certainly that is true of many old artists.

(I heard that Beethoven was so deaf he thought he was a plumber!) .... blink.gif

Beethoven realized he was going deaf in his twenties, and by then his fame was already secured.  He continued to compose (with some emotional breaks) the rest of his life and did the ninth (Europe's effective national anthem) completely deaf.  He was always a musician, starting out as a pianist and becoming composer.  This plumbing business is nonsense.

He was an emotional man, given to horrible temper, but people understood and he is considered one of the three Vienna greats (Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms). The only place where I think maybe his inability to hear what he composed may have had an effect are in his late piano quartets,  which take serious listening to over and over before one begins to understand them (my experience anyway).

I like his Pastoral Symphony a lot.

Yes it is probably the widest liked.  I personally prefer the third and seventh.  There is a massive repertoir out on U-Tube of not just symphonies but a lot of other things.  If you like the sixth (Pastoral), try sonata number 21.

Thinking about this, OH! to have a bidet fixed by Beethoven himself with his pianistic hands.  How though would you establish provenance -- people don't usually write people about who their plumbers were.

This makes me happy:

I told my sisters I was getting them Easter baskets this year, and you would have thought it was Christmas! The youngest could barely get to bed last night, and they were up early this morning. :)  They are way too old (12 and 14) to be excited about some candy. They have lived with me for almost four years now, and it never ceases to amaze me the stuff that excites them. We spent several hours dying Easter eggs yesterday. I had a blast but who would have thought . . . (though, to be fair, they didn't have much of a childhood).

OMG!   It was just a throw away one liner - a joke i.e. not requiring serious analysis.  Never mind.

I know some individuals that have a knack for that.

Or --or! always saying the exact opposite, their idea being better of course.  I've never looked it up but I'm sure its iin the headshrink's bible someplace, ha! probably has several names.

One example, if someone said "My Granny lived to 109 and smoked like a stack and had whiskey iin those Pepsi cans I tell you."   My doc friends would be in the instant, "oh that's too bad."

"Just think they could have a made a few hundred by just living the clean life."   Always some crap like that HATE ! that.

...UUUUPDATE: no not you von manfred said, I love all your comments.

Unsolved Mysteries  oh , and of course Unexplained Mysteries too!  the happy thing, theme/thread blah Laterzzzzzzzzz

The problem isn't my seriousness, it's this board.  All sorts of things appear here that one would laugh at anywhere else, and it is entirely possible that a story about Beethoven being a plumber has circulation somewhere.

I don't know about apple cider vinegar.  When it comes to repelling insects, I think pretty much any vinegar will do.  It also seems to be helpful dealing with the itch after one is bitten.

I regularly choose apple cider vinegar ad put a few drops of it in my drinking water and use it on my kale and other veggies.   It's suppose to be very good for you, although I forget why.

I think you are very passionate about a lot of things and I admire you for that. Some of us see the joy or happiness and like to take things not so serious.
