What makes us happy..

Suppose to have a shot every now and again[apple cider! vinegar] but I think wine suffices.   I always thought there should be some quick tester thing that would mention when one is too acidic or not enough.  Heard pop was like that, just kills your body so no pop around here.

Used to have a brand called braggs organic with the MOTHER or such with the pulp but I didn't want to get , so we quit using it.

I forget why too, some have used it as deodorant and other things on their skin, certainly better than the stuff that turns you blue, hahaha ! seen that guy in an article the other day, CAAAARRRRRAZY !  There was even a woman SMURF! at one of the Auctions, completely blue HA!

I think you are very passionate about a lot of things and I admire you for that. Some of us see the joy or happiness and like to take things not so serious.

I protest!  There are things I take seriously and things I don't.  In this case it was presented in a serious way -- I see nothing funny about Beethoven being a carpenter.  It would be perfectly possible and interesting.

Thinking about it though, I can't think of any great nineteenth century composer who ever was into anything other than music.  That is indeed interesting.  Oh, I forget List -- he was into women.

The idea that great artists are never recognized until after they are dead is rarely the case, and then only partially.  Bach Sr. was considered competent, now he is considered great.  Bizet had his failure for political and cultural, not artistic, reasons.  I guess Mendelssohn was pretty much admired but ignored during his life.  Of course value increases, but that is because it is known no more from this composer will be coming.

Modern serious composers have much more difficulty, but that is I think because music has changed and those who try to follow the older "serious" model and don't go for the teenagers aren't commercially successful.    There are however still examples of serious composers who were early recognized -- the industry is different -- everything is different.  Also, of course, some serious composers go for novelty beyond most peoples' ears, so they will remained confined to a small niche -- we will see -- give it all a few centuries.

The one thing that gets me angry are those who take a certain consistently pro-Russian line on everything -- to a point beyond absurdity such that it makes me think I'm reading the Novgorod papers (I do that sometimes until I get ill).  This propaganda is easy to recognize, and I see it here and it does really make me angry at those who post it.

Of course I'm pro-human, as are most people, and am politically pragmatic (I admire Thatcher and Reagan as well as Truman and -- I'm having difficulty thinking of a British labor leader I admire).  Economically, believe it or not, I am quite conservative, but I do think basic needs should be met by countries that can afford it.  I also subscribe metaphorically to the idea that the way to be a demon in the next life is to use one's wealth in this life to create people who depend on you.

As far as joy and happiness are concerned, I guess I'm a realist, having been through a few wars and been purged and unable to get a job in a Communist country and losing a wife to a horrible cancer and a few other things I could mention.  I am doing fine now and have always been frugal so I am quite happy, and lucked out and made a bundle during the dot-com boom in the States, (actually I ended up losing half of what I had made, but have since recovered that) except I subscribe to the Buddhist notion that all things, both good and bad, eventually end.

The way Donald Trump has fulfilled every single one of his campaign promises to date makes me happy. :unsure2:

I don't know about apple cider vinegar.  When it comes to repelling insects, I think pretty much any vinegar will do.  It also seems to be helpful dealing with the itch after one is bitten.

I regularly choose apple cider vinegar ad put a few drops of it in my drinking water and use it on my kale and other veggies.   It's suppose to be very good for you, although I forget why.

Apple cider vinegar has many beneficial effects - have you done a google search?  Mostly it balances out the acid/alkalinity ratio in our bodies.  It is being too acidic that gives rise to many conditions.

You missed the context (and the profession).

I said that Beethoven was so deaf  that he thought he was a plumber!....ah, never mind. dontknow.gif

Riding home with the top down.

That makes me happy.

And I am blessed to live in a place where I can do that consistently from March until December. :D

I do that all the time -- it's called riding a motorbike, and I do it regardless of the weather (although here in Cambodia when it rains it pours but one need only wait out the half hour or so it will do that).

Now that the police enforce (really enforce, unlike before when a small bribe got you off) the helmet laws, it isn't quite as exhilarating, but I suppose much safer.

It is amazing how many things I have learned at some point or another in my life are good for me and so I've started doing (like the apple cider vinegar thing) and I no longer remember the reasons.

Where bad manners is becoming ever more prevalent, what makes me happy is people being courteous/respectful and appreciative; some say that it is a British trait!  It almost feels like an old fashioned trait now!

We have so much traffic in our little town, it really isn't. Some days it feels like I could walk home faster than I drive. :)  But I love the sun. I'm like a flower. I need sunlight to bloom.

We are getting a new roof and decided to add on a covered front porch and replace all the sky lights. That is if we can decide on the colors and size of the porch.

We did some more weeding, trimming, and cutting in the front yard yesterday. With the planters starting to go crazy and flowers coming up and blooming, our yard is starting to look like a real yard. The swamp is retreating. :D

  1. I am very happy when I see my grandchildrens faces beam after I have given them pocket money as I never had any when I was young because my grandparents had no spare change they were very poor, but I did get their sweet/candy rations during and after the war
