I fully understand the gratitude to just still be living!

Some 4 decades ago I had 3 close encounters with death (all accidents).  It instilled in me never taking being alive for granted...still!

Yep I now never ever take life for granted and although it's a common enough thing to have a bypass I am internally gratefully to the surgeon who effectively save my life

My naturalistic garden!

Here is a recent photo - to the untrained eye it just looks overgrown but there is a lawn meadow (in the centre).  To the right there are sweetpeas (by the rainbow), to the left a hydrangea bush and behind that a small Japanese maple tree. A virginia creeper is growing on the trellis behind the tree.

My statement from things that make you go grrr thread

when I am an hour late getting out of work, have to stop at the grocery store on my way home, have to drive super slow on a 45 minute drive home cause of pouring down rain..then getting to the homestretch (within 5 minutes of home) only to have the road closed due to an accident and having to detour 20 minutes...and still have dinner to cook.

having a cup of choffee waiting on me when i walk in the door and everyone saying that a late dinner never hurt anyone.

The photograph is made that much more poignant by the photographer's statement. He writes:

"This is my favorite Black Skimmer photo that I have taken in all the years following a little-known colony.  At this nest, another baby was born a day or so before the one pictured.  Because of the time advantage the other baby bullied the little one by always eating first, stealing meals and pecking the little one to death until he left the shade under the parent.  To get out of the Florida heat the baby often used the shadow I casted from lying down near the parent.  After getting into position, one hour prior to sunrise, and lying there for another hour a parent flew in directly to the smaller baby giving him the meal first.  The baby was inches away from me, so I couldn’t get the feeding photo.  However, after the baby gobbled down the fish, I captured him running up to the parent and displaying the behavior pictured."
