Could robots replace sheep dogs?

Scientists at the University of Swansea have discovered the algorithm for herding sheep which they claim could be used to programme robots to move livestock or control crowds.

I don't think they can replace the sheepdog -- at least, not for sheep. One factor there is the dog's stare, which does keep sheep in line (no joke.)

Its not really about replacing sheep dogs with robots. The study is about nature and what we can learn from it and possibly use for human related events. Like controlling riots or getting people out of dangerous situations like burning buildings where people panic. Like nearly everything the answers to so many questions are in nature and its designs.

Give them time and everyone will be replaced by robots. Is no job sacred?
