No Censorship Posted October 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2014 What are your desert island choices? Feel free to use any criteria in choosing them (critical picks or personal favorites). The only "requirement" is that you can't select the same artist twice. Former members of bands, who later went solo, are fine. My Desert Island List: Revolver-The Beatles Let It Bleed-The Rolling Stones Who's Next-The Who IV-Led Zeppelin Dark Side Of The Moon-Pink Floyd The Joshua Tree-U2 Violator-Depeche Mode British Steel-Judas Priest The Ramones-The Ramones Day & Age-The Killers

Why did you choose your selections? I mean other than the fact that you like the albums and artists. Why would you take your top ten to a desert island? I chose the classics at first and then chose albums that represented varied rock genres. For instance, I made sure to include token heavy metal and punk rock albums. Depeche Mode filled the synth pop category, and it also always was one of my fav' bands. I brought in Pink Floyd in case the desert island TV station aired "The Wizard of Oz".
Jacques Terreur Posted October 12, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 12, 2014 i chose mine because it's music to have a good time with, some uplifting stuff. Giving it a second thought, maybe i'd rather take my guitar with me, so i can play anything i want and avoid going completely bonkers gradually.... If you're stuck on an island with only ten Albums, you might get tired of them.
seaturtlehorsesnake Posted October 12, 2014 #9 Share Posted October 12, 2014 i picked mine because naima is one of my favorite songs of all time. and, ok, because i was being silly. i'll probably try to make a more serious list some time later.

StarMountainKid Posted October 13, 2014 #12 Share Posted October 13, 2014 Years ago I could have made a top 10 list, but now I've heard alll my favorite songs and albums so many times I can only occasionally listen to them anymore. Now I'd have to include some jazz albums and some classical music albums. Music complex enough and with enouth depth that I could discover something new in them while listening to them over and over.

That's one of my issues or problems too. Chewing gum looses its flavor after you chew the same stick for a long time. I had to take a long break from the Fab Four for that reason. You can hear too much of a good thing.

Sir Smoke aLot Posted October 16, 2014 #24 Share Posted October 16, 2014 Or is it Bob Marley "Legend" :-/ Also love Tupac but not when he calls women hoes. Lyfe Jennings That is why he made a song called ' Keep ya head up ' to show respect and to clear misunderstanding He was called out because, mostly, track ' I Get Around '. There is a difference between a b**** ( pardon my lang ) and a woman and that is what he is saying. ' Brenda's got a baby ' is heartbreaking song, nice video too. +Paranoid Android Posted October 16, 2014 #25 Share Posted October 16, 2014 Deserted Island. This means more than just a "top 10" list in my view but something that can keep my attention for days or even weeks at a time. This means diversity. With that in mind, I have chosen some varied music to keep me entertained on a deserted island. 1- Beethoven's 5th Symphony. 2- Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back soundtrack. 3- Strapping Young Lad - City 4- Infected Mushroom - Classical Mushroom 5- Beach Boys - Greatest Hits 6- Pan's Labyrinth Soundtrack 7- Nicky Chiswell - Resurrection (the token Christian album on the list) 8- Elvis' Christmas Album 9- The Beatles - "Revolver". Very very tough choice, so many great albums 10- The Offspring - Smash (massive input in my childhood). There's so many missing from this list, but being that I am on a deserted island I did need to diversify and try and make a list that would keep me occupied for literally years. The "greats" from just one genre couldn't all be represented. I hope this is of interest, it's taken me a very long time to come up with this list of ten.
