Sam Kinison's Death

Justice please

Recommended Posts

I was just talking to a friend today about Sam Kinison, he wasn't my favoirte comedian but his death intrigued me. He died in a car accident. But when the paramedics found him he looked normal. He was having some sort of conversation with someone? He said, "I don't want to die" then he said, "but why?" then he said, "Okay, Okay, and softly Okay" Your thoughts because my father was shaking hands with someone he hadn't seen in many years. That is what he told me. He said to his friend, "I'll be damned I haven't seen you in a long time". He died shortly after that.

Funny you should post this as I was just recalling the account of this the other day. My feelings of what this may have been, are mixed but I find it interesting (if I'm remembering correctly) that Sam was an evangelist before he became a comedian.

Until we die ourselves none of us can really know the truth or fiction about any kind of afterlife. My Aunt insisted my Grandpas dog was in the room before she died. For a couple of weeks after my Grandma passed I could smell her in the room with me. There are many people with experiences and you can choose to explain them however you want for yourself and I think that any way you choose to interpret it is true on some level.

He was not having a conversation with anyone, he was dead.......

On April 10, 1992, Kinison died at the age of 38 after his white 1989 Pontiac Trans Am was struck head-on on U.S. Route 95, four miles (6 km) north of Interstate 40 and several miles west of Needles, California, by a pickup truck driven by 17-year-old Troy Pierson, who had been drinking alcohol.[19][20] The pickup truck crossed the center line of the roadway and went into Kinison's lane. At the time of the collision, Kinison was traveling to Laughlin, Nevada to perform at a sold-out show.[15]

Kinison's body was found lying between the seats of his car at the scene of the collision. An autopsy found that he had suffered numerous traumatic injuries—including a dislocated neck, a torn aorta, and torn blood vessels in his abdominal cavity—which caused his death within minutes of the collision.

I thought he actually was a pastor, or minister, before he took to raunchy comedy?

Huh? Biography.com says those last words were what he said....

http://www.biography.com/people/sam-kinison-424006#legacy

About 200 miles east of Los Angeles, Kinison's sports car was hit by a pickup truck driven by a 17-year-old. He was conscious briefly after the accident. According to Brother Sam, Kinison's final words were "Why now? I don't want to die. Why?" He then stopped breathing and efforts to revive him proved unsuccessful. At the age of 38, one of America's most distinctive comedians died from his injuries.
with Kinison's brother Bill and several others following them in a van.

Does Biography.com not research what it publishes?

Could have been his brother Bill who heard his last words. Biography.com says "According to Brother Sam, Kinison's final words...." But, I suspect what it means is Sam's brother Bill is responsible for the last words. And as the first one to be on the scene, as he was just seconds behind Sam's car, it seems likely to me.

Probably says what exactly happened in brother Bill's book.

His new wife Malika was in the car with him. Apparently she was knocked out though.

Malika Souiri, Kinison's wife, whom he had married merely six days prior, was rendered unconscious by the collision, but survived the accident with a mild concussion

Same story here....

http://www.findadeath.com/Deceased/k/kinison/samkinison.htm

http://www.nytimes.com/1992/04/12/us/sam-kinison-38-comedian-dies-wife-injured-in-head-on-collision.html

His wife, Malika, whom he married only last Sunday, was injured in the crash and was taken to Needles Desert Community Hospital in serious condition.
The California Highway Patrol said yesterday that it did not yet have a formal report but did not dispute the account by Mr. Kinison's spokeswoman, Florence Troutman, who said that Mr. Kinison's brother and manager, Bill, had been following in a van. She quoted him as saying that the accident occurred when the oncoming pickup tried to pass another vehicle and that the accident littered the road with beer cans that did not come from Mr. Kinison's car.

Overall, I think those last words are real. But just my opinion.

Thank all of you for the information. Was he dead on impact? You state that he was dead within minutes. But he still had time to talke to someone maybe even seconds.

If I want to find out what actually happened, I certainly am not going to get it from a website called "Find Death". It is a site that looks amateurishly done with needlessly large font and huge pictures. Not a site I would necessarily consider reputable.

To answer both.......

From what I remember, his injuries were pretty severe, and talking would not have been much of a option.

From Diecheckers post, I could be wrong. I never had heard of his brother being right there....

But, I do think the injuries were to severe, and the car was to jacked up for anyone to be near him within the " minutes " that the injuries would have taken to kill him.

You think his injuries were too severe to talk based on your medical expertise, or the fact you were there? Witness accounts from day one support those last words.

He suffered internal injuries.

Not to mention he was not wearing a seat belt, and his head hit the windshield........A passerby gave him CPR.

Not saying it did not happen, just saying I find it difficult that someone would be conscious after reading this.

Yet his wife only got a mild concussion. He got badly injured because he wasn't wearing his seat belt. Otherwise he probably would have survived the impact.

I think the brother is the source of the quote, but whether he actually heard anything is up for debate. He was the only one immediately on site, so we have to determine if Bill Kinison is a liar, or trustworthy.

Which one is it? Car was too jacked up  for anyone to get close or a passerby gave him CPR?

Damn, disturbing a 3 year old reply?

Reading what I wrote, in order.....The first reply I said  I believe, or I think, something like that. Meaning in english, I am not 100% sure, unless you take my belief as fact.

The second reply, I would venture to say I researched it, and that is what happened. I do not normally post things like that unless I am sure.....

edit to add :  Damn, you took that way out of context. Was pretty obvious with my first reply that was all opinion.

Ya, just googled it, I was right.

A passerby called for emergency services, and tried giving Sam CPR

Did his girlfriend die a little while before this accident happened?
