aztek Posted November 18, 2014 #76 Share Posted November 18, 2014 for all we know this could have been cook's mission from the start, get russians to fly over, use their jamming pods, and show us their capabilities, may be russians expected cook to use countermesures, so they know what they are, may be they did not get any responce from us, so they had to fly over many times. stevewinn Posted November 19, 2014 #77 Share Posted November 19, 2014 (edited) Its all a load of nothing. all this jamming soft kill scenario is run every single time when our forces meet, every single year the Russian Navy sails past the UK, and we dispatch a ship to "escort" them. when they meet up both sides are testing their systems. just like in this case with the USS Cook. if anyone is interested have a read of how softkill tech works, in this case the Royal Navy. https://ukdefencejou...-kill-defences/ Edited November 19, 2014 by stevewinn

" Khibiny " It is unbelievable indeed that 27 filled resignation after the incident but this seems to be reported everywhere is mass -media. Was reading this today http://www.veteranstoday.com/2014/11/13/aegis-fail-in-black-sea-ruskies-burn-down-uss-donald-duck/ Edited November 19, 2014 by qxcontinuum
Deleted Posted November 19, 2014 #79 Share Posted November 19, 2014 Well we don't actually know they jammed the Destroyers systems, because such information is never going to be confirmed or made public. Its highly likely that in a war situation the Russian plane would have been shot down long before it got in range to use its soft kill systems. and on what basis do you make that suggestion. In a real war, there wouldnt be just one airplaine with a jammingd evice probably submarines and a lot mire airjets. And this technology is obviously a huge adventage. Only tinhat sources say it happened, and if it's such a hush-hush thing, how would they know? Easy answer; they just made that s&%t up!

Was reading this today http://www.veteranst...ss-donald-duck/ That article is merely translated version of the events (that happened only according to Russians) given by Pavel Zolotarev, Russian Major General, Director of the Institute of US and Canadian studies at the Russian Academy of Sciences. The article conveniently omitted his full title. So you might as well read Pravda. And even in that glorious article there’s no mention of any Western or unbiased source confirming this sci-fi incident happened at all, let alone made 27 people “resign”. I’m quite mad at myself for contributing to a thread that is basically an IQ test. Edited November 19, 2014 by Helen of Annoy

Was reading this today http://www.veteranst...ss-donald-duck/ Sorry, but Veterans Today is just another whackadoo conspiracy site. And frankly, I give our Navy personnel a little more credit than that. This is especially true when you consider the decades old threat that the Soviet now Russian navy posed and continues to pose to our carrier battle groups. These are the kinds of threats they are trained to deal with from day one in the service. Edited November 19, 2014 by Rafterman
danielost Posted November 19, 2014 #83 Share Posted November 19, 2014 i am very doubtful that the us navy would accept the resignation of any sailors after something like this, because they would now have expearence dealing with this.
