She's literally one in a million.

The remains of a child, laid to rest more than 1,500 years ago when the Roman Empire controlled Egypt, was found in an ancient cemetery that contains more than 1 million mummies, according to a team of archaeologists from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Wow. If the "million", which at this time is speculative, turns-out to be true, that is one astonishing occupied graveyard and likely was used for many, many decades if not 1 or 2 centuries.

Million Man March was the first ting I thought of too. Of course there was only about 100,000 in the million man march and my second though is this the same thing, another egregious miscount?

Perhaps the same media is reporting this story as well. Actual number of mummies: 16. Lol.

There is apparently a good deal of skepticism in the archaeological community about this story. As the linked article, below, indicates, there is even some suspicion that this might be a hoax.

Good find, bison. And to think I was starting to fall for it. I thought it was too good to be true.

It's also a dangerous game for Muhlestein to be playing. More than one archaeologist has been booted out of Egypt for making independent, unverified reports. Of course that was in the days of Zahi Hawass, so perhaps the current Egyptian administration is more forgiving.

It does seem to be false. I was just coming to post this -

Today (Thursday), the ministry of antiquaries denied the "discovery of a million mummies cemetery" and made an official statement describing the published news as "rumors" and decided to stop any cooperation with the mission after the press statement were published in the Daily Mail.

Good find, Still Waters.

Just goes to show, don't publish questionable and unsupported information without the knowledge of the Egyptian government. It will drop an institute's affiliations with Egypt like a hot potato.
