Alexander Gerst has created a breathtaking visual record of our planet as seen from space.

The video was put together from more than 12,500 photographs taken during the German astronaut's six-month stay aboard the International Space Station.

It sucks how few green spaces are left without interruption by man. Without roads, power lines, light and noise pollution. This video actually depressed me, it's not beautiful at all. Progress is greed IMO. Sorry to be a Debbie downer but the natural world takes it on the chin.

I agree with Atuke this video does point out how serious the extent of overpopulation is. All u can see is lights at night and yet all the land is covered and did you see the amount of explosions going on in that one particular area?
