UM-Bot Posted March 15, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 15, 2015 The desert's Messak Settafet escarpment contains up to 75 prehistoric tools per square meter. Finding a discarded tool that was once used by one of our ancient ancestors is usually a rare and exciting event, but in an extensive outcrop of sandstone in the Sahara desert there are so many such artefacts that the area has been dubbed the "carpet of tools". I believe that some of them may have been saved from disease by the penicillin in their mold. Harte

Sundew Posted March 16, 2015 #12 Share Posted March 16, 2015 There's gotta be at least one ancient dildo there statistically, right?? Hard to say I don't think that's the "tool" they had in mind, lol, but I read somewhere recently that all our modern silicone sex toys are ending up in the landfills, that should give some future civilization pause. back to earth Posted March 16, 2015 #13 Share Posted March 16, 2015 (edited) There is one in Namibia too. I have seen photos of it; white desert sands covered in dark dots ... all stone tools. The person that took the photos took some stones. I have 3 of them - all ancient stone tools. http://namibsandsea.org/introduction/ http://www.quartaer.eu/pdfs/1993/1993_06_richter.pdf Edited March 16, 2015 by back to earth
Varelse Posted March 21, 2015 #14 Share Posted March 21, 2015 By prehistoric definitions, any hand sized rock with unusual marks on it is a tool.
