I'll try to make more research on that, but ''provinding a source for every president ever elected'' on the internet seems unreasonable to me.

Can we agree though, that since you, yourself can't even name a candidate who ever did so that this is rather a unusual thing? And for obvious reason, for this a disregard those who do not subscribe to this religion. I think we can agree on that.

Actually, no. I was first eligible to vote when I voted for Carter and I honestly don't remember it ever being an issue before. There are an extreme amount of religious institutions, societies and colleges in the US to which any number of presidents could have announced their candidacy. You seem to think I'm making an unusual request, but you can't tell me where any of them announced it.

Then I suppose you could tell me the name of a candidate who did so (except Cruz) if that is such a common recurrence.

I never made a statement either way. You made a claim and I asked for facts....that's how it usually works around here.

I won't make that mistake in the future. :tu:

As I said, I am willing to admit my error. I should have said I strongly believe this hasn't been done before, I'll grant you that much. The fact that not a single name has been thrown out here to contradict my statement leave me wondering though. It seems clear to me that this is rather an unusual thing to do for a would-be President. And - in my opinion - for obvious reasons.

This political commentator at Forbes seems to be of the same mind:

You cherry pick a sentence in my post and ignore the rest. Great. What about Putin enjoying the support from the far-right parties all across Europe? You don't seem to realize that Putin has nothing to do with the Left. Which makes your claims rather nonesensical to say the least.

Is Putin a Communist? Yes Is Communism far right...no...its far left. I don't care who he associates with...or who admires him...he is a Communist. He is Left. And there you go...truth...in your face.

Except that Putin ran against the Communist Party of Russia in 2012 and won. Putin's policies are leaning on the right hand of the political spectrum, which is why they are so appealing to many Western far-right parties. In the meantine, the Left opposition has never been weaker in Russia. They have no leadership.

Why Vladimir Putin Is A Hero To Some In Western Europe, Too:

''Le Pen is one of many European far right-wing leaders who support Putin. Matteo Salvini, the head of the rightist Lega Nord and a rising star in Italian politics, signed a deal this October between his and Vladimir Putin’s United Russia party based on what he called common values. And during the Crimean “referendum” — which legitimized Russia’s fait accompli annexation of the Ukrainian province — at least 12 European right-wing parties accepted the controversial invitation to act as ‘observers.’'

[...]

''So what makes Putin appealing to Europe’s far right? Many of these movements see Putin as a protector of continental European values. They welcome the Russian leader’s conservative positions on issues like homosexuality, especially as support for gay rights grows in the West. They also share common opponents. Putin is strongly opposed to the European Union — he sees the eastward expansion of the bloc as an encroachment on Russia’s traditional sphere of influence. The majority of Europe’s far right, meanwhile, sees the EU as equally hegemonic. They say it has robbed European member states of their sovereignty, and many are advocating breaking away from it.''

Is Putin a Communist? I thought he was an elected Dictator basically. Calling yourself a communist and being a communist are two different things. Does Vladimir live the same as everyone else? Does he get paid the same as everyone else? Does he possess the same amount of stuff as everyone else? No, no, no?? Then he's not really a communist, he's a dictator.

Anyway, enough with Ted Cruz, this guy has virtually no chance of becoming the President of the United States (let alone wining the GOP race) and the main reason for that has everything to do with his extreme views which, apparantly, are not so extreme to you.

Position on the Issues

• Opposes tax increases on any income bracket

• Supports audit of the Federal Reserve

• Supports single-rate tax system

• Strong opponent of Affordable Care Act (known as "Obamacare")

• Supports raising the eligibility age for Medicare

• Supports private retirement account option for Social Security

• Supports raising the retirement age

• Supports reduced restrictions on off-shore drilling

• Does not support federal regulation of greenhouse gases

• Opposes a path to citizenship for illegal/undocumented immigrants

• Supports enforcement of federal immigration laws by local police

• Supports gun rights

• Pro-life

• Opposes same-sex marriage

• Supports death penalty

• Opposes federal regulation of education

• Supports voter ID

Seems pretty straight forward Conservative Christian Republican to me.

The only things I'd disagree with (as being more Moderate) would be Gay Marriage, Amnesty for Illegals, and Supporting Global Warming fixes. I think we should let the gays get married if they want to, but that you can't force a religious institution to perform a ceremony, or force a business to serve you. I think we need to take advantage of illegals and get them into the system and paying taxes like everyone else. Take away their foreign citizenship and force them to learn/use English. Otherwise, go home. I also think we need to react to Global Warming, like right now. Clear the air, and regardless of if this is a natural cycle or not, we will do better if temperatures do not continue to increase and the climate can be controlled better to decrease harsh weather.

Overall, I think he would be a fine candidate. If enough Republicans and Independents show up at the polls, and if enough Democrats are disillusioned (and plenty are right now), then he could very potentially win.

I've never quite bought into "communism" that keeps 99% of the people poor and the other 1% as wealthy as rock stars.

The Government....'invites'....citizens to vote...mmm hmmm It isn't 'cool' to be a Communist Dictator anymore...apparently it is much cooler and you can win friends and influence people better if you upgrade from Communist Dictator to quasi Socialist/Capitalist Dictator. At the end of the day the Guppy will still chomp off your Foot. ah...love is blindness isn't it DIeChecker? When will they learn, when will they learn?

About the only thing I disagree with those positions on is that I'm pro-choice and like you said, gay marriage should be legal without forcing religious or private businesses to participate.

As far as illegal immigration goes, the only idea I think might be somewhat fair would be to find a way to stop all further illegal border crossing(or at least immediately detain/deport those who come with no chance of gaining entry), allow any who can prove they've been here since before 2010 to stay, get a census of the total number of illegals, and halt all new legal immigration applications until the current yearly rate accumulates to the total number of illegal immigrants. It would likely take decades of no more immigration, but it would eventually "balance the books" on immigration numbers. Also make any of the illegals who wish to stay pay a fine to help fund the whole thing. During all this new rules should be implemented to block "unauthorized illegals" from getting any public benefits, enrolling kids in school, getting jobs, being rented homes and any hospitals should notify the proper authorities if someone is unable to prove they are allowed to reside in the country.

That is my proposal for a D/R compromise anyway.

Imagine trying to say that to the anti-religious freedom haters here in Indiana at the moment. Sheesh. You'd be discriminated against. Oh the irony and hypocrisy is rich in this state.

So your problem with Cruz is his own personal beliefs? How petty! See...in AMerica we have something called Freedom of Religion...we get to choose to worship whatever way we want or not to worship at all....we have the Freedom to choose a religion, or to choose No Religion. Whether that religion is silly to you is of zero consequence. Men and women of every walk of life have faith in God. When you castigate Cruz you are also castigating them...again...how Petty!

I agree , only if elected president he shouldnt force his religious views on others or use them to take decisions on topics like abortion, stem cell research or climate change or teaching of evolution to kinder garden kids. I personally wouldn't vote for a man who denies that there is no climate change caused by human activities.

On your list...the only thing that Cruz is 'guilty' of is not 'believing' in Climate Change....and yet...there are millions and millions of people who would not vote for someone who did not have strong religious faith. Cruz God is Jesus Christ...your God is Climate Change. You don't want Cruz forcing his God on you...but you want to force yours upon him. At least that's the way it seems to me.

Again, you can call a shark a guppy...but it will still bite your leg off. Diechecker is correct...and you are correct too...he is a new 'Flava' of Dictator.

If you think he was elected by democratic process...you are wrong. So...some semantics going on...nothing else.
