2-B Posted March 20, 2015 #51 Share Posted March 20, 2015 (edited) Mandatory voting. Yeah, what could go wrong with that? Seriously, did Obama never watch Jay Leno's "Jaywalking"? Has he never seen (well, probably not) Jesse Waters "Waters World"? I don't WANT the clueless girl who pretends to have a clue but who declares we have a warm relationship with North Korea in any voting booth. Sorry. Let those folks stay home on Election Day, which is likely what they'll choose to do. Too lazy to keep up with minimal current events, too lazy to vote. That equation is fine with me. We got 8 years of Obama because he rounded up bus loads of folks suckered by Hope and Change, suckered by "fundamentally transform America" without giving a thought to Saul Alinsky or what that transformation might mean. We got Obama because bus loads of folks never dug far enough to see his 2004 video complaining that the Constitution did too much to LIMIT THE POWER OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. Well, duh. That's exactly what our brave Founding Fathers intended, Mr. Constitutional scholar. But those bus loads of folks weren't aware of or interested in that kind of thing. Many were like the gleeful woman exclaiming that Obama was gonna fill her gas tank, buy her a phone, and pay her rent. Money for nothing, and the vote's for free, because the rest of us are paying for it. ETA: lest anyone think so, my post is not racial in any way. I would happily vote for any candidate of any ethnicity who has policies I agree with, policies that can strengthen this country, and who has leadership skills especially on the world stage. Degen Posted March 20, 2015 #52 Share Posted March 20, 2015 Voting is a funny thing. I had a conversation with a woman who was talking about the elections and didn't have a clue what the issues were. Literally, not a clue but she was voting one way because she didn't like how the other candidate's wife dresses. I said, "Why are you bothering to vote if you don't know what is going on?" she was taken aback and declared that she had a right to vote and I said "You also have a right not to vote and probably shouldn't be picking a president based on how the man's wife dresses." She didn't get it. I told her that her vote was zeroing out the vote of a person who did know what the issues were and asked her if that is the best way to help her country find its next leader. She didn't answer and changed the subject. She voted democrat that November. It was probably cancelled out by a republican with the same reasoning. Bama13 Posted March 20, 2015 #53 Share Posted March 20, 2015 It was probably cancelled out by a republican with the same reasoning. C'mon man, everyone knows that republicans don't choose which candidate to vote for by how the candidates wives dress. The important thing is how the wife worships god.

travelnjones Posted March 20, 2015 #55 Share Posted March 20, 2015 Do they really want to force me to vote for the horrible **** i want? Cus I don't want to settle for this sort of borderline fascism bs. Give me full blown stormtroopers marching down the street or **** off.
Sundew Posted March 20, 2015 #56 Share Posted March 20, 2015 Funny how none of these ideas get floated when the Dems have complete control of the legislative and executive branches. And they would scream like stuck pigs if the advantage to such a suggestion favored the GOP, but that's how they play the game. Ah, Fat Freddie's Cat, I remember those comics (showing my age yet again!)
Sir Wearer of Hats Posted March 20, 2015 #57 Share Posted March 20, 2015 Mandatory voting. Yeah, what could go wrong with that? Based on all the countries which does practice mandatory voting, surprisingly little. Based on how America implemented "Socialised Medicine" (ie something else quite a few other countries have, including many of those that practice mandatory voting) TONNES!
Gromdor Posted March 20, 2015 #58 Share Posted March 20, 2015 C'mon man, everyone knows that republicans don't choose which candidate to vote for by how the candidates wives dress. The important thing is how the wife worships god. An evangelical friend of mine said he could never vote for Romney, because he was Mormon and that was a cult. Come election day he voted Romney over Obama because it was, "The lesser of two evils." I still tease him over it to this day.

Merc14 Posted March 21, 2015 #62 Share Posted March 21, 2015 (edited) As weak as your long pointless rambling to make a very weak cheapshot at the democrats? It is a true story so how is that a cheapshot? LMAO. The woman is very close to me but her politics are for ****e but she is from New York state so democrat by birth. The problem is the old school democrats don't realize that the new dems, presumably like you, are really progressives and not Kennedy democrats. The republicans are a mess right now but the bulk of the country despises your party and so democrats are being voted out in record numbers. People aren't voting republican, they are voting against democrats. How does that make you feel? Hence Obama's next move. Your party has been decimated from the state level up but you still own the media, you believe their message and you think all is well. Good. We'll work at cleaning out the RINOs and you keep listening to Chris Matthews and maybe we can fix this mess. Yamato Posted March 21, 2015 #63 Share Posted March 21, 2015 We'll work at cleaning out the RINOs and you keep listening to Chris Matthews and maybe we can fix this mess. Who are the RINOs? It'd be nice to have a list of names we can trust. It'd also be helpful for my measly understanding of politics to not blame the Republicans every time a RINO goes and does something stupid. Then again the only RINO I can think of is Ron Paul, so maybe RINOs aren't all bad, huh? Conversely, what Republican is the most Republican? What Republican makes you smile and say: "Oh yeah! Now that guy's a Republican!" Unfortunately any vote for a Republican candidate isn't a vote for who I want, it's a vote for who Sheldon Gary Adelson wants, hence "Ron Paul can't win." and other such classics. F3SS Posted March 21, 2015 Author #69 Share Posted March 21, 2015 So it irks you because you cant criticize there country in return? Yes and no. No because knowing the slightest bit about someone by knowing a persons nationality can help to learn a bit about where they're coming from ideologically and can save some uneccesary back and forth squabbling. Yes because it's pretty cowardly to make it your M.O. to keep your country in the shadows while criticizing someone else's. You haven't made that your M.O. yet that I know of. Why would you feel a need to criticize there country when its a topic regarding the US? Its kind of petty By all means criticize there arguement, but they arent speaking for there country. Ive mentioned what country im from before anyway. Feel free to go find out where if ya want, otherwise it isnt necessary. If its really necessary for you though, read through this thread, there should be a big enough hint and it would of saved someone from making a fool of themselves Edited March 21, 2015 by Degen

Been at it a while. Counter criticism isn't a neccesity but on occasion it is warranted. I didn't imply that it is required but now that I know your M.O. Is going to be just what Im talking about... Not my fault you just jump in a thread without knowing whats going and are to ignorant to read whats already said. 5 pages to much for you? But go ahead by all means with what will amount to be a baseless and factually incorrect MO you seem to think i have. Maybe you can fill me in on what my MO supposedly is so i dont disappoint your assumptions when you are shown to be wrong. I dont go announcing it to all and sundry because it is rarely of any importance to the discussion. But if we are going to do stereotypes, i guess its easy to tell you are an american because rather then do the work to find out for yourself, you would rather outsource it for someone else to do for you.
