That is a ridiculously stupid question, do you think I am the type of person who condones such things? No. I know the U.S took in a lot of scientists who did horrific things, especially the Japanese ones, but there is nothing I can do. The U.S is my country, there is no country with a perfect record, but because damage is done in every war is that a reason to just let it slide?

Sorry if I offended you. I was just curious how you felt.

To me it'd always a complex moral question. At what point to we draw the line. As in how high up ranking does one of them have to be to be guilty? Most people don't count the whole German populance. But the line has to be somewhere. It's a grey area.

Just like with the scientist. How valuable does the information have to spare them. Or is no info ever important enough to.

Apology accepted, and I apologize if I acted rude. I thought you were assuming I was ignorant of what America did after WW2 and therefore tried to embarrass me with the knowledge. I know America has done terrible things, we committed one of the most terrible acts of Genocide ever. Yet, no country is without some sort of blood on their hands in someway, and war crimes have to be accounted for when possible.

And dropping nuclear weapons on innocent people makes us the good guys? It's all perspective.

Perhaps justice should be carried out on us as well

Who dropped nuclear weapons on innocent people? Who were the innocent people? The women who were making parts for the planes the Kamikazis were killing us with? The babies that were being raised to kill Americans and take over the world?

How is it that the Emperor of Japan is not held responsible...he could have surrendered but refused.

You sir are a whack job of ignorance.

Agree...in those days, Nazi's were evil, but US still took Werner Von Braun, and result was Apollo program...and other scientists contributed too...more or less secret

Werner Von Braun was a Nazi but being a Nazi isn't a war crime...He was a rocket scientist...he wasn't committing war crimes.

Oh gods...so this thread descends into an anit-American rant because we dropped atomic weapons on an enemy nation to end a terrible war?

This started out about Nazis...real-life bad guys.

Meanwhile - back on the Topic - does anybody here actually think that this might have been a "Nazi Lair" ?

...he wasn't committing war crimes.

well, he wasn't going around himself, shooting people.

But he was not only a member of the Nazi Party, but also of the SS, and under his administration,

40.000 forced labourers (most from nearby concentration camps) were forced to built the V2 in Peenemünde.

Only half of them survived the harsh working conditions there.....

to me, that counts as being involved into war crimes

Well not surprised. Seem to recall the Nazis made some sort of contact with Juan Perron of Argentina. And don't forget many countries have embassies and consulates in countries throughout the world. In San Antonio we have the Mexican Consulate, they have a place downtown. There were if you read Weird New Jersey german americans that had camps in New jersey and some of these people were nazi smypathizers. It might have been some sort or resort for germans in the area.

Funny story. My sister's husband Ross is Jewish and he and his family know our dad was german. Well my sister once mentioned that someday she'd like to go there and visit relatives. Ross offered to come along and said he spoke german so he could translate. Jessica was surprised and said what about the nazis,to which he replied most of them gone to South America. Made me crack up laughing.

well, anyways, to get back on topic, it seems the entire claim is a fake..................

"But the truth is a little more mundane. For a start, the dilapidated buildings were not recently “discovered” – they have actually been open to the public for decades, along with other ruins which date back to the 17th and 18th century settlements established by Jesuit missionaries – and which give the region its name. Not far from the “Nazi” site are the remains of San Ignacio Miní, a Baroque monastery which is one of the area’s most-visited tourist attractions.

At least 10 years ago, the local tourist board erected a sign on the path to the Teyú Cuaré site, saying that the ruins were originally part of a Jesuit site."

Are there really people who are afraid to go to Germany, because of something that happened 70 years ago ?

Would she be afraid to go to Spain, for fear of the Spanish inquisition ?

Nobody expects the Spanish inquisition !

Why can't people that start posting on this forum make their first post a bit more important and relevant to the actual subject matter at hand and not make fools of themselves so much so that they turn into one of the usual "drive-by" posters and will never be heard from again?
