Been putting off getting one of those fancy screen TV because I hardly watch TV anymore, and even when I watch movies, I tend to watch a lot of old remastered classics.

I don't play games much anymore either, I got tired of all the brutal bloody mayhem themed titles, just doesn't make sense to me spending that kind of money for more of the same old same new.

I like the trend that the game developers are turning to lately though, more on strategy and less on button mashing.

I don't know about all that. There's a huge variety of games out there. It's not all violence. If you like strategy and haven't played yet I highly recommend XCOM 2 on PS4 or PC. It's an absolute gem of a turn based strategy game and requires no finger dexterity or quick thinking. It's addicting and brutally hard at times. I never could beat it but it get more fun with every run constantly learning and developing new strategies.

There are plenty of non-bloody games out there though.

I mainly play on the PC platform, I'm more inclined towards the graphical environment designs and character story base themes, like the old soul reaver and prince of Persia series, as far as RPG games goes the most recent titles I played was half life and the Kingdom of amalur stuff.

Still don't own a console to be honest, bought a few as presents for the teens of pals and friends but that's as far as console experience ports for me.

Portal 2 is still my favorite from recent years and that's why what... seven years ago?

You ever play any Total War games? If not, grab some coffee and get to it. About 2 months ago, somehow the wife and kids just let me, I sat down to play Total War: Rome 2 on PC for 16 straight hours. 9am to 1am. I've never done anything like that before but I just couldn't stop getting in one more turn. I totally conquered the hell out of it. My eyes were completely bugged out and my wrist hurt pretty bad. I couldn't use a mouse for at least 2 weeks afterwards without pain. Anyhow, I just felt like telling you all that lol.

The only Total War title I remember was Shogun, not sure if it's the same as it was years ago, yeah I went through the same

I can't afford to invest those kind of hours anymore on games to be honest, in the early days I had the same experience with those Simcity and Star Wars xwing series... Nowadays I just pay more attention to the game world and character design, part of the deal I made with the teens was I let them play and open up the levels and I just go and "explore"

Or I play the puzzle solving bits and they deal with the boss fights...

One of my favorite memories is that title :

Ha neither can I but that one day the stars just aligned for me. And yes Shogun is a TW game. I only played Shogun 2. It was fantastic but it was also the easiest TW game to beat I ever played.

I don't remember all that much about my experience with it, it didn't last all that long on PC before uninstalled.

Yup. Story wise it is average length. Tons of extra to do, however. Highly recommend investing Rush Assassination and Critical Assassination skills asap

My ex sat down and watched the story for Soul Reaver and Prince of Persia.  A girlfriend now occasionally asks How Arthur Morgan ended up.

I chat mostly with my brother over PS4.  We tend to always return to GTA Online.

Women talk face to face.  Men talk shoulder to shoulder.

When I look at the lot of titles these days, what with those assassin, explorer adventure RPG makes, all I see is the Prince in different costumes and tweaks, you know, the wall run, the cliff climb, leaps and bounds...

I still miss that Soul Reaver epic telling of a tale... That game needs a reboot to the present platforms if any ever does...

Be careful what you wish for.  Metal Gear Solid drew you in.  Playing it again with the stealth costume was fun.  But the follow-up game was flat.  Even the subsequent editions on PS+... I just can not get into.

I can honestly say the most time I've spent or wasted on metal gear solid was no more than fifty hours at best, I was more invested into the FIFA titles of the day...

I had a decent go at Championship/Premier Manager.  I had a bit of a coup enticing some Brazllian bloke by the name of "No. 9" to the English 2nd Division.

EA being the butt kisser they were at the time hid a super duper American super fantastic player deep in the transfer list on the cheap, I don't remember the name but the day I brought him into the team he started scoring hat tricks all the way through to the title and all cup competitions. Won everything for that season too...

Suffice to say I stopped playing much and got more interested in the golf titles that were making the links and graphical environment, I still enjoyed a front nine or back once in awhile before my puter died...

Finished Wii U Zelda, or taken on the Boss in the castle, and am just clocking up Shrines, and monster parts so l can get some cool things when l run into the monster guy again.

There is also an option to become a Spider thing, so l will certainly do that and clobber some hobgoblins, and already slayed a Hynocks, (nasty beast/horse) and never want to again.

Tried to tame a Unicorn, but that sucker is hard to tame,

I should get Super Mario 3D World this week, but will stay with Zelda for the time being.

For some game the difficulty makes the win that much more rewarding, like the souls games. The first time through Dark Souls is a punishing romp of misery, but now it's fun to do a level 1 play through with just a club in your underwear. The games are tough, but fair. Nioh is very punishing, until you realize that you can't play it like a souls game and have to use the mechanics they designed specifically for that game.

Most games just ramp up damage and call it harder. Some of the Call of Duty games are notorious for this. World at War on veteran was all about getting lucky and no being overwhelmed by grenades while trying to make it to the next check point. The new Modern Warfare was a great balance of difficulty on veteran. Enemies a little harder to kill, bu they're not spamming you with grenades or killing you in one or two shots.

Screw all those one-and-done modes, though. I don't enjoy that at all.

I loved World at War, hope it gets remastered. Miss, free for all, my favorite zombie map (shi no numa) along w mp40, which melted everything.

Stubbs the Zombie and Shadow of Colossus.  Also a ton of games that have catchy music.

Anyone have news on the PS4 release of Star Wars: Episode 1: Racer.  It was due for release in May.  Haven't heard much about it.

Nioh 2 is pretty good.

I'm also really liking AC odesessey. There is no grind at all. I've basically been over-leveled each mission.

At 26 so far, alot to go.
