Diver films huge pyramid of spider crabs

44-year-old PT Hirschfield captured the remarkable spectacle on camera near Melbourne, Australia.

For some people the sight of just one of these spider-like crustaceans is enough to make their skin crawl, but on rare occasions these eight-legged sea-dwellers can gather together in huge numbers, as was the case when scuba diver PT Hirschfield ventured in to the ocean off Blairgowrie Pier recently.

Oh good. It appears the Crab Clan has fulfilled their end of the bargain.

And now we begin phase two.

alt:

Why is an underwater photographer able to take such clear and varied images of this crab-a-mid and yet anyone filming a theoretical primate shakes the out of focus camera before turning it off in a panic after 17s?

alt:

Looks like the missing sailor has been located.

alt:

Can butter melt underwater?

alt:

Time to inform my tailor that the raw materials for my new crab suit have gathered at the designated location.

There is probably some kind of food under there...carcass or something.

Of course.

It is well documented that the pyramid builders were paid in beer and bread.

that's how the pyramids were really made! they covered a big block of rock with delicious bread, and the workers simply ate their way through until it was pyramid shaped.

I was envisioning the ancients seeing a huge mass of giant sand crabs and gathering the idea from them.....well that is to say, they threw a large number of huge boulders at them, but the crabs kept coming back, until the ancients quarried, cut, dressed, moved and place huge blocks of stone upon the crabs. Through this process we ended up A) the pyramids and B) the destruction of giant sand crabs and all proof of their horrific existence.

B + ) - "." gives an emote, not the B.) that I had intended....odd......
