George Ford Posted April 22, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2015 Think of regular chicken eggs now. Then think in a million years those same eggs fossilized will be priceless. I got me a shovel and some eggs and time machine right here. See you in my huge mansion/yacht/moon palace, in 1 million years!

Grandpa Greenman Posted April 22, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 22, 2015 Cool, now I know for sure that one of my rocks is a fossilized egg, I thought I had a picture of it on my computer, but I can't find. Lost among the endless files of pictures. I'll take another one and post it soon.

Patient Zero Posted April 23, 2015 #11 Share Posted April 23, 2015 That's an awesome find. Wouldn't it be great if science guys and gals could extract DNA and clone them? Awesome? Yes. Terrifying? Yeah, probably but i'd love to see it! i think i'll write a movie script about this very subject. i'll call it Jurassic... something... it's a work in progress. Gaden Posted April 23, 2015 #12 Share Posted April 23, 2015 By definition, fossils no longer contain organic matter. They are, essentially, copies of the original made out of rock. So, no omelets, no DNA. Doesn't make it any less of an amazing find, just in different terms.
Jacker Posted April 23, 2015 #13 Share Posted April 23, 2015 It's a fabolous fact that after certain time, organic matter like eggs turns into stone. I still think that it's possible to find some DNA in the egg. Given to right team of scientists, we would witness a true miracle of our time! - Jacker
