+and-then Posted May 28, 2015 #176 Share Posted May 28, 2015 A win by default doesn't mean you actually won. It means you weren't worth the price of a victory. The U.S. government isn't going to have the disadvantages that the British government did. The troops are here, not an ocean away. The weapons aren't just better, they are superior. The personnel are trained on the exact same land, using tactics from all around the world, with the emphasis on flexibility and dominance of the battlefield. War is nothing at all like it used to be centuries ago. A civilian resistance would have no chance against a modern military. Shhh! Don't tell that to the Afghans! Or Vietnamese, or ...
aquatus1 Posted May 28, 2015 #177 Share Posted May 28, 2015 You think they cared about winning? They were happy just to be rid of the invaders.
godnodog Posted May 28, 2015 #178 Share Posted May 28, 2015 (edited) For all I see, its only an issue cause the president is a black, muslim, socialist, gun taker, antichrist, concentration camp wannabe dictador, who refused to negociate with gop since day1, that and a smal minority of people that are idiots (about this, I am not refering to possible federal abuses people talk about, I believe them as this is the same rregardless of the country) and the press and policitians are giving them attention, instead of ignoring them (regarding this issue) Edited May 28, 2015 by godnodog
Dredimus Posted May 28, 2015 #179 Share Posted May 28, 2015 (edited) I knew this one would come up. I can't see any so called "secessionist" being the caliber of Jefferson, Washington, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Paul Revere, or any other patriots of the time. These men were educated, sophisticated, well-traveled, and successful business owners, leaders in their communities, many of them ex-military,who had the skills, experience, discipline and education to get the job done. Sorry, unless someone can provide evidence that these secessionists are of the same caliber, I'm not changing my mind. Do you know these people? Do you know who they are? Do you know their history, their skills, their education, whether they have a criminal history. Yet some people are still willing to put their faith in them when they have yet to demonstrate that faith is justified? The Calibre of Who? Thomas Jefferson - Sociopath Benjamin Franklin- You think this guy had fortitude and was some type of colonial loyalist?! Up until the start of the revolotionary war HE was trying to get the crown to take control of Pennsylvania from the Penn Family and put it back under Royal Rule. He was elected "Voice of the people"... yet not once did he mention unrest in the colonies to the crown... because he was a crown loyalist... Paul Revere - Seriously? This guy road all of 13 miles... thats it. Get your history right. Israel Bissell was the real rider... Longfellow made Revere famous... Nothing ryhmes with Bissell. George Washington - Possible Opium addict... grew his own herb (as did many) avid drinker, slaver... My point is... its not the measure of the man at the time, but the measure of the man through the eyes of history. Edit: Mistakes were made. Yamato Posted May 28, 2015 #180 Share Posted May 28, 2015 You think they cared about winning? They were happy just to be rid of the invaders. If you get rid of the invaders and put their ends to an end, that is winning. There's nobody left to kill, there's nobody left to tell you what to do. I'm not sure what winning we're missing here. Maybe the kind we get in Hollywood movies?
