Paranormalcy

So this is trending. Two pencils and a pad of paper, a lot like Bloody Mary except it summons a Mexican demon. Perhaps to discuss who your new husband should be now that Zayn has left One Direction.

I get the idea you all arent' taking this with the grave seriousness it deserves.

But seriously, I had never heard of this before. What is this supposed to do, honestly. How can thousands of people all contact Charlie, if I even believe in that. What a crazy fad.

Well I must have been outside planting flowers and I didn't see this posted yesterday.

I also used the search function for "Charlie the demon" and nothing showed up. Weird.

Anyways, I find this hysterical. Some of the spoof ones are crazy...and some of the *real* ones made me laugh so hard. People literally running screaming out of their houses :o:lol:

Too funny.

You would not believe the shear number of teenagers doing this right now. I just *double posted* this topic by mistake - sorry I didn't see this topic- and it's ALL OVER twitter and instagram. Some of the kids are doing funny spoofs but a lot of them are doing serious ones and then freaking out. It's caused quite a stir. Did you see the articles on that Paranormalcy?!?!?!

and then

Seeking contact with Demons usually means the person is bored and looking for excitement - they want to be scared (safely). All people have that in common I think. But I also think they do it because they don't REALLY believe in Demons. Since I do believe I would never attempt to invite one for coffee - but to each his own.

So, did Sr. Charlie just decide to become a demon? Did a new demon spontaneously appear? Why couldn't it have chosen a more impressive name than Charlie? Personally, I'm not sure I could be more skeptical. A poorly balanced pencil seeks a more stable position, and it's called demonic influence. Is Jenga evil, too?

While not suggesting I believe any of this, I do find it quite interesting that the game is popularly referred to as "summoning a demon" - much like ouija also is. Why does a 'spirit' one contacts that is not the Christian, Muslim, Judaic, etc deity automatically have to be labelled a "demon"?

Are all 'spirits' also 'demons'? Does this mean those deities of the various religions are just 'demons' that happen to have a lot of people believe in their existence?

Or is it, of course, simply a case of cultural bias. In any culture where a particular deity/spirit is worshipped, any other deity/spirit must be a "demon" as a matter of course. Our petty tribal psychology is not limited to just 'othering' our fellow human beings, but also all those mental constructs we have built for ourselves.

No, no it's not.

I heard that too. Plus, I just read it on the interwebz. So it must be true.

I tried it. I asked Charlie that if he was present, if he'd let us know in some way. The pencil landed on "No."

So I can confirm that he wasn't present.

Several people who analyzed this say that it works because someone is blowing on the pencils.

That's the way it looks to me, too.
