Haricot Beans (as advertised by Dawn French) are the ones you'll find in a tin of Heinz Baked Beanz.

This is not just 'Beans on toast', this is 'M&S Beans on toast'.

I hate Christmas, but the worst thing is... the commercials on TV.  I have to mute every ad break.

Whether it's an advert for chocolates or a dishwasher, why do they have to rhyme?

It drives me completely amstrad.

You are lucky it is illegal for pharmaceutical companies to advertise on television.

We get TV ads for over-the-counter medicines available from pharmacies.

I don't really know what the law is over here, but there's no point in a pharmaceutical company giving us the 'hard sell', because most prescription drugs are purchased in bulk by the NHS.

Exactly, yet in the U.S. we are subjected to their ads over and over.  You can't get them without a prescription but the last sentence in every ad no matter what it supposedly 'cures' is "Ask your doctor about...." what ever drug is being advertised.

I'm glad we don't have to put up with that!  It would drive me mental. :tu:

Something currently driving me completely amstrad is...

A.I.  (Artificial Intelligence)

It's become a synonym for "technology".

Sorry Whirlpool, your washing machines do not have artifirkinficial intelligence.

Grrr at the Amazon App logo.

Has there been a worse redesign in the history of online commerce?

My crazy, alcoholic cousin texting unprovoked threats and nonsense to her mother (who is now living with me).  GRRR.

Yeah, too much trouble.  My Aunt is 88 and my cousin is a cop.   She knows how to work the system.   We are going to go to T-Mobile and see if they can print out a transcript  of the texts in case my cousin follows through with any of her threats.

"Hybrid" vehicles:

  • Convince yourself you're doing your bit for the environment.

  • Burn fossil fuel regardless.

I had a smug co-worker who bought a prius when they first came out.   She lived in the country, had to drive 20 miles to town.  She worked 50+ miles from where she lived.   Then in 2009 she bought a brand new Prius.   I went to lunch with her and another co-worker who also lived about 50+ miles from work and drove a 10 year old Honda.   I asked the Prius owner what kind of gas mileage she got on the highway.  She said "38", smuggly, of course.   I looked at the Honda owner and asked her about her gas mileage on the highway and she said "well, my car is old so I only get about 40 miles to the gallon nowadays".

Grrr at the misleading marketing trick of saying "Baked, not Fried".

You may think it contains less fat, but no.

It's processed food!  What do you think they use to make it taste edible?

Um........  Cooking oil, transfats, salt, sugar, MSG, artificial flavourings, and a long list of unpronounceable chemical compounds.

(Did I get it right? :w00t:)

Main current GRRR is being unable to find someone in this county who will fit a garage roller door for a reasonable price. Yes, Darren in St.Austell, I'm talking about you and your " any colour other than white will cost you £95 extra"! And as for you, Jason in Redruth, you're "not prepared to come this far out"? Are you kidding me?!

My grumble is the same one, my reprobate cousin will not allow us to come get her mother's things.   It has been 4 months and one of the boxes needed has my Aunt's medicine in it.

Would the Police help you with the collection? Seems kind of important and surely illegal to withold someone else's belongings.

We have talked about that.  At first we did not want to do that because my cousin is a "cop" (security police for the school district, now)   She is crazy and has spent the year before I moved her out threatening my Aunt with telling a judge to declare her incompetent and other legal BS.   We didn't want her to loose her job.  I am thinking about contacting a family law person to see what we can do legally without getting my cousin in trouble.   If she lost this job (bottom of the barrel) she would never be able to recover and would end up homeless, which is what she threatened her mother with on New Years day, which is why I came and got her.   There are laws against kicking a relative that has been living with you out in the cold, but I was concerned for my Aunt's safety if she stayed.
