Things that make you go grrrr ( Part 2 )

We have talked about that.  At first we did not want to do that because my cousin is a "cop" (security police for the school district, now)   She is crazy and has spent the year before I moved her out threatening my Aunt with telling a judge to declare her incompetent and other legal BS.   We didn't want her to loose her job.  I am thinking about contacting a family law person to see what we can do legally without getting my cousin in trouble.   If she lost this job (bottom of the barrel) she would never be able to recover and would end up homeless, which is what she threatened her mother with on New Years day, which is why I came and got her.   There are laws against kicking a relative that has been living with you out in the cold, but I was concerned for my Aunt's safety if she stayed.

I hope you and other family members find a way of resolving it all to suit everyone concerned.

10 weeks ago I was offered a job with the NHS that I have been interested in for years, I was so happy to be offered the job as things have not been good in my current job for a long long time ( I'm a care worker for people with learning disabilities).

The NHS recruitment process is incredibly slow and I have had to chase them up on absolutely everything, for example they emailed me to say i needed to schedule a video call so they can verify my identity and right to work in the UK. I replied with 3 or 4 dates I was available. No reply. After a week I sent them a gentle reminder that they had not got back to me. No email back, I had to send yet another email to say I was keen to move things forward, they eventually replied to that a week later!

The whole process has been like that, my DBS (criminal records check) has now been completed but I have heard nothing from them as to what the next steps are for me. They should be getting in touch with me now to arrange start dates etc, I have no idea who to contact about this so am just sat waiting to hear something.

It's made me think twice now if I really want this job if this is how they treat people before they've even commenced employment. I've wanted this job for years and now I'm doubting it, this was meant to be the year things changed for me, I got a grip on my mental health issues, have started to learn to drive after convincing myself I was too thick to drive for years , the job was the icing on the cake or so I thought!

I spoke to HR at work today about an unrelated matter and the head of HR said "oh I believe you're to be leaving us soon after 16 years, Well, we're not going anywhere, you're always welcome back", it was kind of nice to hear and it's really made me think twice.

Rant over.

I hope they get back to you soon.  Obviously they have contacted your current HR.   That should be a good sign.  (as long as they don't expect you to start Monday and never told you)

Yes they've requested references, got everything they need now, yet still nothing. I have to give a month's notice so even if they got back to me tomorrow with a start date that would make it 14 weeks from being offered the job to starting! And I won't hear from them tomorrow, they just don't seem to give a crap. I've given up on it now in my head, told all my colleagues I would be leaving and now it looks like that's not going to happen.

Which brings me on to my next grrrr, eating humble pie.

Don't be too hasty! Maybe they are just short staffed and have a lot of applications to get through. Just because this part of the process is juddering and slow doesn't mean to say that the job itself won't be a dream come true when you're actually doing it. Don't give up hope just yet.

You were right because I heard from them today, I must have been having a wobble.

They're still rubbish at getting back to people though!

Grrr at people who live in an isolated location, but expect Jason from Redruth to go hundreds of miles out of his way to fit a new garage door.

Grrr at people with an extensive criminal record, who prefer to see it as some kind of job reference.

Yet another Grrr at clickbait.  Fortunately, I seem to be immune to it! ;)

How many variations on the 'WD-40' clickbait have we seen?  It's getting ridiculous now.  For example:

"This Is One Trick You Need To Know" — accompanied by a picture of a can of WD-40 and a satsuma.

Grrr at people who use a big word (that hardly anyone knows) when a perfectly acceptable common word exists.

Besserwissers like that should be extirpated.

Are you calling me a Besserwisser?   You don't even have to buy a dictionary any more, you can use dictionary.com when you encounter a word you don't know.

Not at all!

Your longest word averages 5 characters in length. B)

My average word count, but I like to use multi-syllable words.  I just have to fill the sentences I use them in with shorter words so that it makes sense, so average word count doesn't mean anything.

Sorry, but if you're going to post in this thread you've got to get a lot more angry than "Oh well"!

Before you post again, please practice in front of a mirror getting really riled up and shouty. Repeat after me "GRRR!"
