Donald Trump Enters 2016 Presidential Race

It's a rank racist distortion. The drug lords are not immigrants; the immigrants are only trying to improve their lives by going where there is work. Some will be criminals; always was that way (including the Italians and Irish when they were the immigrant group).

Ok, but what wasn't true?

"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best," the Republican presidential candidate said in June. "They're sending people that have lots of problems ... they're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people." Donald Trump

What parts of his statement are not true?

When Mexico sends it's people, - This statement implies that the Mexico is deliberately sending immigrants.

they're not sending their best - This statement implies that they are shipping out their undesirables.

They're sending people that have lots of problems - Again implying Mexico is shipping it's undesirables.

They're bringing drugs - Implies that all Mexicans work for the drug cartels.

They're bringing crime- Implies all Mexicans are criminals.

They're rapists.- Not implying anything. Here he is flat out calling all Mexicans rapists.

And some, I assume, are good people too- And here he says there is a possibility of some (not most or all) Mexicans being good people.

Remember this rant he made wasn't about immigrants- it was about Mexico.

Mexico is deliberately doing, uhm, what exactly to keep their people from leaving? Creating what incentives to stay? They are complicit by letting it go on.

They aren't sending their best. Why would the best of Mexico want to leave the place where they are the best? Regardless, the country is complicit in the problem.

You are implying "ALL". You said all, you imply all. The statements are true if even one out of ten illegals are bringing crime and drugs. Have you heard of the SF woman killed by a known violent illegal who has been deported seven times in the past? There's an obvious problem being exploited if a violent criminal can just waltz in and out of our country any time he wants. Therefor, the statement is true but you're the one implying what you want and distorting a simple truth into a biased extreme though that doesn't mean this all isn't an extreme problem.

Again, extreme bias on your part. Of course it's a some but not all situation and if you're going to take that statement for what it is then it negates your implications of "all" for the other statements.

No matter what you stretch this into you cannot deny that illegal immigration is a problem, that the illegals are technically federal law breakers no matter how you spin it and that while crime, drugs, rape are problems humanity will never be rid of there are ways to curb some of it and that would be by stopping crime, drugs and rape from other countries from getting here so easily especially when we have a duty to do so by keeping our borders secured. Why on earth should America just have to accept illegal immigration and tip-toe around the truths of what it brings with it? Your line of thinking is what generates year after year of politicians with no spines who can't give a straight thought on anything without being afraid of people saying things like you're saying if they speak more truthfully. Damn sensitivity. The truth isn't always pleasant.

Donald Trump wasn't talking about illegal immigrants, he was talking about Mexico. You are adding that part in. For all we know, Donald Trump could be talking about legal immigrants from Mexico in his speech.

So using your logic you are saying that ALL legal immigrants are law abiding and NONE of them are criminals.

This has been going on for years. An article from 2005.

MEXICO CITY, Jan. 5 - The Mexican government drew fire from American advocates of tighter borders on Wednesday for publishing a pamphlet that instructs migrants how to safely enter the United States illegally and live there without being detected.

Officials here say the small booklet, illustrated in comic-book style, is not intended to encourage illegal immigration, but to reduce the loss of life. Last year, more than 300 migrants died while crossing rivers and deserts to reach the United States.

The guidebook also advises would-be migrants to avoid hiring professional immigrant-smugglers and to refuse to carry packages for others. It also instructs people never to lie to border officials, carry false documents or resist arrest.

But groups favoring stricter immigration controls said the pamphlet amounted to a how-to manual for illegal immigrants. The booklet gives advice on what clothes to wear when fording a river and how to cross a desert without getting dehydrated.

Really G? You really believe that? You couldn't. He is talking about the Mexican government on one hand and our illegal immigration issue on the other. It's nonsensical attempts like this at distorting otherwise simple things that stifle any progress on these matters.

Here's a transcript of his speech: http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2015/06/16/donald-trump-transcript-our-country-needs-a-truly-great-leader/

He doesn't mention illegals at all. In fact he listed other countries like Japan and Mexico as the problem. He then goes on to state what was quoted above. When it comes to Donald Trump, I think you guys are the ones reading in more than what he is saying. It's pretty cut and dry to me.

He goes on to mention in further interviews that he was talking about illegal immigrants. He even apologized for not being very clear.

Why are people still arguing about this; the case is closed.

Donald Trump's hair is the Illuminati.

True, in that particular speech, he doesn't mention the word "illegal" or "undocumented," but his meaning is clear.

But I speak to border guards and they tell us what we’re getting. And it only makes common sense. It only makes common sense. They’re sending us not the right people.

He certainly doesn't define who the "right" people are, now does he? And who are "they" that's sending these people? Again, not clear, but it's implied.

Plus, humans migrate. They always have. It's estimated we moved out of Africa some 40,000 to 70,000 years ago, and maybe as much as 100,000 years ago. That's not going to stop.

His statement about the economy (from your link):

Last quarter, it was just announced our gross domestic product — a sign of strength, right? But not for us. It was below zero. Whoever heard of this? It’s never below zero.

is absolutely meaningless without any context. He doesn't compare the quarter's GDP with anything else. From the Bureau of Economic Analysis:

Real gross domestic product -- the value of the production of goods and services in the United

States, adjusted for price changes -- decreased at an annual rate of 0.2 percent in the first quarter of

2015, according to the "third" estimate released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. In the fourth

quarter, real GDP increased 2.2 percent.

Link

He doesn't want you to know what's really happening. Because without context, it sounds horrible, but in context, isn't the sky falling as he claims.

Given that he didn't foresee the backlash from Carlos Slim and others, here's my prediction: Trump will continue to poll well, and so will be invited to the debates. I see one of two scenarios:

1) He'll drop out before the first debate, because he knows he'll come out of it looking like the court jester he is.

2) He'll have the guts to go through the first debate, but will drop out right after because he'll be shown to the moron he really is.

I don't bet, but if I did, I'd bet on option 1. If by some chance, option 2 happens, then he'll really be worth watching. In the beginning, not a lot of people took Mr. Hister seriously, either. But for now, I'll stick with option 1.

Is Trump a narcissist?

1)Yes

Does he say things politicians are afraid to say?

1)Yes

Does he have a chance in Hell of being the nominee?

2)No

Can someone here prove he lied during that speech?

1) Yes

2) No

3) I refuse to answer that. It doesn't matter what he says because I hate his hair.

Except during every recession ever - given that the common definition of a recession is two quarters of negative GDP growth.

And remember the $5 billion Web site? $5 billion we spent on a Web site, and to this day it doesn’t work. A $5 billion Web site.

Guess what? The website works.

And our real unemployment is anywhere from 18 to 20 percent. Don’t believe the 5.6. Don’t believe it.

Something like that is hard to disprove, since he cites no sources, and doesn't define what "real unemployment" is, because the national average is 5.3% in June according to the BLS:

cite. However, if we're being accurate, then we say that's the overall average. We can break it down to specific groups, the way the BLS does:

Among the major worker groups, the unemployment rates for adult men (4.8 percent),

adult women (4.8 percent), and blacks (9.5 percent) edged down in June, while the rates

for teenagers (18.1 percent), whites (4.6 percent), Asians (3.8 percent), and Hispanics

(6.6 percent) showed little change. (See tables A-1, A-2, and A-3.)

Cite

The rest is opinion, hyperbole, and speculation. In fact, it reminds me of a comedy routine I heard years ago called, "The All Purpose Political Speech." In it, the speaker talks, but says absolutely nothing. It's about a 5 minute bit, but part of it goes like this:

Today! In this country....thirty percent! Or thirty! In every hundred! Or, to put in simpler terms, 6.7! Out of every 22.4! What other party can make that claim? Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we must go forward! For with our backs against the wall, what other direction can we go? And we will go forward! Forward....to the next wall. I say we, and I when I say we, I mean us....all of us...for who else can make a country but those who live in it?
And so on, you get the gist.

Yes, good point, certainly the lesser of two evils as they say. Some people in this country think their last name alone gives them the right to be president (no more, Clintons, Bushes, etc)

I don't disagree with that but Sanders is a socialist progressive who has no business touching our economy. Just another big government class warfare perpetuating progressive.

As I was looking through various news sites, I found an interesting piece by Forbes (hardly a left wing site) that says *gasp* Trump has exaggerated his net worth. By 100%!

http://www.forbes.com/sites/erincarlyle/2015/06/16/trump-exaggerating-his-net-worth-by-100-in-presidential-bid/

Campaign exaggerations are as much a part of politics as kissing babies. In announcing his bid for the Republican presidential nomination this morning, Donald Trump started with what Forbes believes is a whopper. He claimed his net worth was nearly $9 billion. We figure it’s closer to $4 billion — $4.1 billion to be exact.

The rest of the piece goes on to pretty good detail, and while $4.1 billion is more than my family would make in 3 generations, it's still not $9 billion as he claims. I can see his campaign slogan now: Trust Trump! But I'd add the red circle with the line through it.

Though I can see the guy with only five billion dollars thinking twice about competing/suing. It's a billionaire's power play but I would be surprised if he isn't pressed hard to disclose the truth. I don't see it sticking though. Who cares about billionaire drama? Nobody is going to care about an issue that involves billionaires screwing each other over.

No President has any business touching our economy, regardless of his/her politics!

It's okay when we drive the economy according to your ideology? Well unfortunately when you think that way, so does everyone else too. Thus the economy is getting ganked from multiple angles by multiple ideologies.

R's spend a mountain of money on the crap R's like, D's spend a mountain of money on the crap D's like. Two mountains of money and the mountains continue to get larger and more irresponsible with each passing decade. I see two parties battling over the checkbook (credit card) neither one capable of refraining from controlling people by handing out party-shaped peanuts and party-shaped promises to gullible voters. We flip back and forth between D-berries and R-berries ad nauseum and the policies do not change and the govt never shrinks. If someone's just gotta be a D, because they agree with Obamacare, I would call them duly trapped.

What makes you think that politics are about "getting along with people?" The racist claims have been rebuked, maybe if you had listened to anyone but CNN you would know that. The only thing america needs is a Pro-Business tool that will Cater its Financial corporations.

The only reason the United States is even on the map is because of its business, you realize that the entirety of our assets and investment are on our own soil?

Uhhh...are you serious? Being a politician is most assuredly about how people see you, and your relationship with fellow politicans, donors, lobbyists, etc. He constantly puts his foot in his mouth, and is indeed a bigot. Living and working around many people of Mexican decent, they certainly aren't happy about his statements. I surmise that all of you who defend him regarding his thoughts about Mexicans must be like-minded, or unable to bring yourselves to believe such an awful "rumor" that he himself started. He's just a complete joke, I mean...really? Again, Donald Trump has ZERO experience in representational government. Most of the people in this country, and many around the world just can't stand him. He flat refuses to debate anyone because he knows he'd get destroyed by anyone with half a brain. It won't matter anyway, as once he sees he's getting trounced in the polls, he'll drop out the way he always does.
