Poltergeistnz Posted June 30, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2015 I saw a documentary about that ages ago. They did some digging and found cloth but didn't dig any further. I was left feeling... meh! Ealdwita Posted July 30, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 30, 2015 (edited) Why would the US govt wan to cover up such a thing? All the funny unimaginable theories.. Wally Earhart, Amelia's 4th. cousin, believes Roosevelt had asked Earhart, a close family friend, to scout Japanese military installations in the Pacific during her flights in that region. This was kept a deep secret back in 1937 and is being kept a secret today still because Japan and the US are friends and military allies, and the government doesn't want to dredge up old antagonisms. (That's one theory for what it's worth.) Edited July 30, 2015 by Ealdwita
