Oregon State University researchers have patented a new strain of a succulent red marine algae called dulse that grows extraordinarily quickly, is packed full of protein and has an unusual trait when it is cooked.

This seaweed tastes like bacon.

Never gonna work. May taste like bacon, but where is the fat running down one's chin?

Cheers,

I'll try it, but I have my doubts. <_< Like vegan hotdogs must be made by people who have never actually eaten a hotdog.

Can't imagine Truck drivers stopping in a lay-by where a stall is selling breakfasts, and asking for a mug of tea and a large Seaweed bun with loads of Tomato Ketchup .

I've tried "Lava bread" a type of edible seaweed and it tastes like salty rubber bands.

Perhaps I'll get to try some soon, I do live just north of OSU on the west side of Portland. If I do, I'll post what it tastes like.

Well, if it really taste like bacon I'd eat it. But I'm skeptical, like GreenmansGod said above.
