Do you really think he is the first person in history to think you can solve economic problems by destroying wealth? It is a line as old as the Romans and of course plays on human envy -- a natural enough emotion but not of much use. He can't, even if he is serious, and I do hope he is not serious but just being a politician.

Tax the wealthy and they move away or find loopholes (they can afford the lawyers and so on needed), or just simply reduce economic activity enough to avoid the taxes. You end up harming the economy. Now some taxes, done in moderation, can be effective, but not what this idiot is spewing. Would you risk great amounts of money if when you win all that will happen is the special tax on millionaires will take it away?

Oh, by the way, the way the US taxes are structured nowadays, the poor guy making 25,000 dollars is unlikely to be paying any income tax anyway, or maybe just a few percent.

Well thanks for the lecture on how things are in my country nowadays. How are Vietnamese taxes structured these days? I'm curious after reading this how our "spewing idiot" Bernie Sanders compares with you and yours?

As the candidates go in the US, seems to me -- keep in mind I'm just an ignorant foreigner who doesn't know anything about the States -- that the only Democrat who seems to have any sense in Clinton, and the only Republicans are the two from Florida. The favorite on this board seems to be the socialist from Vermont, although all I've seen from him is complaint that millionaires exist and quotes of doubtful statistics on the fact that money tends to make money. I have no problem with taxing wealth, except that will just make the tax advisers and all the avoidance schemes, which otherwise would be uneconomic, that much more appealing.

I wouldn't trust her to balance my child's piggy bank, first she would lie and say he didn't build it or put the money in it, then she would take 90% of it to cover overhead and put it in her charity (the document that outlines this transaction is on her server) , and she would lose the rest. In the end she would say we owe her. Edited by Glockornothing

So, the scientific polls paid for by one of Hillary's superpacs say she won. This guy made some good points. I think he's right too that 130 people are killed in France and everybody's going to crap themselves and not-vote for the guy who still says climate change is the greatest threat.

I never used to understand why Republicans called CNN the "Clinton News Network" but CNN has been making it so obvious lately that even I can tell. He's also right they don't give Bernie near the air time, and I would add that in the rare moments they do, half of those precious moments consist of talking about Hillary Clinton.

Bernie ought to bring a tape with his own voice everywhere he goes that says: "I came here to talk about the issues that American people want to hear about, and I would really like to talk about those." so he can answer all the media's dumb questions about Hillary with one answer.

and still , he doesn't lie or try to talk his way out of answering the question , even thou -he must of known the question was asked in spite. I never knew CNN stood for that or people say, but it seems evident to me it is. I guess it's a wall street thing, already we can see she'll lie but to prove it I don't trust why she had a private sever ,I don't trust her at all.

After catching the news today and paying attention to Rueters (master spinners) and a few others I have to say I'm even more convinced the fix is in. We'll be seeing Hillary and Teddy with Hillary winning overall not because we want that; but because they want that.

It's looking a lot like the DNC has chopped off Bernie's balls for a minor technicality and I don't know what Ted has done but "we should all like him because everyone is moving over to his camp" they say.

Haven't had TV or cable for 4 months (Hulu/Netfix if I watch something) and haven't seen a single debate but do follow the mystery polls. You'd think living in small rural farming town you'd here of someone getting polled at least once. Politics are always a hot topic and I can't say I know of one single person who's ever been polled. Not even a friend of a friend of a friend.

Maybe this site can help convince me we haven't seen a total loss of control over who our important elected officials are for the past 12 years but if it is true then they are 100% controlled. The control part is something most of us can agree we're pretty sure we've seen in the past few years. The media circus and the crazy time they devote to it helps them massage our mushy brains into accepting what's already done once we've see the results.

Hey Varelse! I'm glad you're back. you haven't missed much in the debates, except that it was really weird, scripted and childishly gossipy. I'm hearing that the democratic committee are trying to destroy Sanders, i guess he's a threat to Hillery? I don't know about him like i thought I did, i don't know. I think it's his Chicago ties that I'm uncertain about. So, do you think Bernie could be controlled or it's not possible because he's not in the pockets of bankers? and what about Donald, he's not controlled. I'm still not sure about him, at all.

I'll repeat the same thing here as another thread I replied to, because this warrants the exact same reaction:

This is a clear and blatant overreaction by the DNC head, who used to be part of Hillary's campaign, and now is blocking her single biggest rival? And this is councidence? I literally question if this even HAPPENED at ALL. I will note be voting for Hillary in any way, shape or form now, no matter what, after this cute little stunt by the DNC. I will vote third party or I will abstrain completely from the Presidential section. This is why I registered Independent to begin with - because I didn't trust either partry and I don't think it's democratic for the two parties to just decide if other parties can enter the race. And EVERY single debacle by BOTH parties only confirms my wisdom and accuracy in my decision. Death to ALL parties. Let's have CANDIDATES.

Whaaaaaaat are you smokin' son? She's a crooked, fake, plastic-populist who is as bad at acting as she is at leading. People have been fed her cult of personality for 25 years. She's made. But when will you guys put the /sucking sound] nutter stuff to bed?

The one plus one going on right in front of our eyes should be all we need. Money creates greed. Power currupts. Money + power turns organizations into organized mobs with a thirst for more. It's another side of human nature and it has most our world by the balls..again.

If we have laws for bandits on the bottom and in the middle we should have them on top too.

putting it to bed, meaning like Hillery, those people? the ones who won't change things by placing laws at the top? Who's ever done it before?

This game is fixed. The powers that be want a right winger in office, its part of the game plan. If Sanders ditches the dems and runs as an independent thatll seal the deal.

Im a nutjob who believes the powers that be aren't elected officials, they are CEO's and their pet lobbyists. We had a 5 star general who was also President of the Unites States tell us that the military industrial complex was taking over our nation 50 years ago and last year Princeton University did an amazing study which shows that we unequivocally live in an oligarchy. Here's a video which sums it up really well :

A right wing president and right wing policies mean more income for the military industrial complex , more restrictions on rights and more war means more LEO's/Military/Private contractors/spies and all their assorted tools from clothing all the way up to fighter jets.

is it over reaction or is it purposely being played up or did it really happen? whatever it is Bernie doesn't seem to be playing around with them. He lawyered up pretty fast. can't say i blame him. But hopefully he also has a team investigating all of this. who's doing the investigation,is there even one needed? what was he accused of doing, stealing her files? I don't know, i can't imagine that Bernie would even do something like that. Just seems out of character for him.

yeah, and Hillery is wall street owned and operated pretty much. bankers run the global everything.what did Rothschild say: "Let me issue and control a Nation's money and I care not who makes its laws"

It seems that everyone keeps telling me that nothings ever going to change and that they are chosen & bought . I'm starting to feel like there's no hope once again. I thought that with Bernie or rand we'd have a chance to get it right. There's too much going on , and I don't know what's gonna become of everything. I'm concerned for us all, globally all of us.Because of them, the people who live like they're gods.

From what I read earlier tonight Bernie already fired the guy that was responsible, and he's already been reinstated access to the DNC database, starting this coming morning.

The problem I have with this argument is then how in the world did Obama get elected? How then is Hillary doing so well? If the powers behind the throne want war mongers, then wouldn't they see to it that apologists and do nothings didn't get elected?

I think Obama has proven himself to be a great warmonger bombing at least 7 different nations in 7 years, the difference is the right wing politician will have the populace supporting him as a result of the perception that the left is weak and most likely another terrorist attack on US soil which will be blamed on A. the borders and B. the left's "unwillingness" to close them.

Sorry? Clitnon isn't a war monger? Shall we ask the people of Libya? And who do think was behind the machinations behind the Ukrainian coup and the Syrian "uprising"? The State department, which her fingerprints are all over, regardless of whether her name may currently be on the door or not.

And similarly, shall we ask all those who've been on the end the Big O's Surgical Drone Strikes whether in their opinion he's not a warmonger? (he's bombed more countries, hardly any of which America has technically been at war with, than any of his predecessors).

Hello Ella. I'm not sure he's a threat to Hillary anymore but who knows the way they manipulate polls. I know of one hardcore Rush/Hannity fan I work with saw the light and is planning on voting for the middle class. Trump won't be controlled and they can't control him so they're trying, and possibly with Trump's help imo, to hamstring his campaign while strengthening his brand.

I think it's a consortium of bankers, energy and military lobbies working together. On top of that you have the uber-mega wealthy for financing the media, CIA off-book ops and an endless supply of spineless people who bend with a faint promise of a little easier life for themselves.

They only need to hold public opinion, or the guise of it, long enough to allow the law/person they want in.

I don't know about those polls Varelse, they can't be accurate. So, there's two things that Sanders represents do you know of them? #1 Wealth of the nation belongs to all people and not just the millionaires. #2 Production for use and not for profit . and I think he Unionizes , but who will it be, who will he be unionizing is what I'd like to learn more of also. No, Trump can not be controlled but will he be easily manipulated in policies? do you know what i mean? I don't think he's able to fully understand all that he needs to fully understand, and even though he's brushed shoulders with them, it's not his field, but who's to say he couldn't do a really "great" job? He's always going to be extra dependent on assistance in doing a great job - so he would have to have the very best intelligence around him and maybe common sense? If that's all it takes maybe he's serious? We're at a really uncommon place in history aren't we? I don't know what will happen if someone get's in office that isn't for them.

What do mean he's not running this time, what are you talking about?

why is he in tonight's debate if he's no longer running? running where?

Imbroglio over Bernie Sanders' aides gaining unauthorized access to voter files could turn debate much more personal
