Has Queen Nefertiti been found?

It seems that Reeves believes that not only the tomb, but also most of Tut's burial artefacts belonged to other pharaohs, possibly Nefertiti "Almost 80 per cent of his burial artefacts — including) the large gilt shrines, sarcophagus, coffins, gold mask, and Canopic equipment) — may not have originally been his". If Reeves is proven right, Nefertiti's burial, or the additional storage rooms (?) would have been sealed - intact & untouched- since Tut's burial. In any case a lot more will be discovered about Amarna & the last years of the 18th

dyn., a wealth of information but not necessarily of treasure, if her tomb goods were reused for Tut.

Regarding the mask, Reeves examined it at the end of last September and believes he found “ beneath the hieroglyphs of Tutankhamun’s praenomen (personal name), lightly chased traces of an earlier, erased royal name,” Ankhkheperure Neferneferuaten.

Is it too late to call dibs on any Golden Couches that come out of there?

One would look nice in my living room. Kids might get a little rough with it though.

You just need to get in there before they drill through to do endoscopy. But hurry, Hawass might beat you to it.

Is something to be learned or is this a treasure hunt? I suppose I shouldn't be too harsh as we won't know what is to be learned till we get there, but I would be most interested in any engravings and so on on the walls, etc. And the Egyptians could use a little treasure right now.

The Egyptians are growing desperate due to declining tourist numbers. They've made it no secret they hope this will help to drum up some business for them.

Whatever might lie behind those walls, it could prove extremely important. As well recorded and attested as Dynasty 18 is, the Amarna Period is poorly attested. That one short span of time in Dynasty 18 has left scholars with all sorts of nagging mysteries, thanks to the efforts of later pharaohs who erased so much of that span. Realistically they should not expect mountains of textual evidence related to the history of the period because that's not what tombs were made for (Carter and his team learned that the hard way in the 1920s), but any new shred of evidence is eagerly welcomed.

Hummm.... Not a lot of time to plan then. I'll have to move quick. I'll need maybe fifty LSD laced donuts, some Arabic language Halo games and about a dozen X-Boxes and sceens to play them on. Once the guards are distracted, I'll just slip in and load up my Bag of Holding.
