Ice cream that does not melt

Still Waters

Recommended Posts

Ice cream that does not melt in the sun could hit the shelves within three years, scientists have claimed.

Experts believe they have developed a recipe for a more robust frozen desert that will consign childhood memories of sticky hands and dissolving cones to history.

It is based on a naturally occurring protein that binds together the air, fat and water in ice cream to make it more resistant to melting.

Forget Cancer! Lets put Aids cures on hold! Third world issues can wait...... what we need is a chilled treat that will not be effected by solar radiation...that will kickstart the economy for sure

Does not melt, does not digest.

Why replace something as excellent as ice cream with fake crap. Work on something that really does need replaced like GMO's.

Ever left a shake out that you bought from a fast food restaurant, most don't melt now. Why because most don't have enough milk in them to be called a milk shake.

Exactly! Half the enjoyment of ice cream is various textures on the tongue during the melting process! Im guessing these scientists have never used a tub of hagendas in the bedroom! :passifier:

What next, chocolate that refuses to melt

How you going to make ice cream soup, if it doesn't melt? Somethings are best left as they are. :td:

If it won't melt in the summer sun, it probably won't melt in my mouth. Do they expect me to eat whipped rubber that's been chilled?

When I was a kid, I let a bag of gummy worms in the car one day. It was around 110 that day, and when I remembered I went out to grab them. They had been sitting so long, they had melted and when I grabbed the bag they spilled over my hand like a bowl of hot glue. Delicious, rainbow-striped hot glue that was worth the pain.

I see nothing wrong with what the scientists mentioned in this article have done. I mean, sure... the resources that they have been provided with could have been used to cure cancer, but I suppose the same could be said of the funds that are being used to support space travel and other endeavours unrelated to finding cures for cancer.

This is about looking for solutions to problems that dont exist,

If it dosnt melt then its not ice cream!

Seems a bit pointless when our ice-cream usually takes forever to melt in out weather anyways.

Freetoroam, did you know that wire copper was discovered by two Scots fighting over a penny?

Does not melt, does not digest.

Incorrect. A slice of ham doesn't melt but when you consume it you are able to digest it.

Why replace something as excellent as ice cream with fake crap.

What do you mean by "fake crap", exactly? It is simply implementing a particular naturally occurring protein called BsIA into the ice cream.

Work on something that really does need replaced like GMO's.

Why do GMOs need to be replaced?

Ever left a shake out that you bought from a fast food restaurant, most don't melt now. Why because most don't have enough milk in them to be called a milk shake.

I'm not sure if I am following your logic. If the milk shake doesn't melt properly that somehow means that there is not enough milk in it? You are confusing me.

Hey, what do we expect from a society that is growing too lazy to even push buttons? SMH

I agree, just because mankind has the ability to do a thing, doesn’t’ always mean that we should, Fer’ Cryin’ Out Loud! :unsure2:

If it doesn't melt does it stay cold? Sounds like a violation of entropy if it stays cold in spite of surrounding temperatures -- it must convert itself into a blob of something not unlike cheese.

Lol. I am not even going to google that, I utterly believe it....cos it sure does sound about right.

But if they think they can make money out of it....inevitably that thing will be done.

They will sell it, someone will get rich, while the buyers may think " why did I buy this cr$p?" or may think "I like this kimmick" til something else comes along or they just get bored with it......or it becomes the next big thing since the wheel.

We just can not foretell how the "consumers" of today will take this, but I believe it will be a hit.
