Do we want this guy to be President of the United States? I find some of these Republican candidates religious beliefs disturbing to say the least. What's worrying is not that a presidential candidate (or more than one) believes that, it's that a large portion of the American people believe that way. Not so long ago there was a study that showed that a significant portion of Americans do not believe in science there where it "contradicts" the bible... in a follow up done by the Washington Post it correlates more or less to the same group believing that Obama is a Muslim and/or a foreigner. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Yes, but I wonder if such a prezz would be very inclined to sign a bill to support Biological research... because most of our biology can be thrown out of the window without evolution and instead prefer a bill furthering the study of pre-Christian influence in the Aramean language (which leads us to a bunch of paper that might be nice to have but pretty useless to advance science). I suppose I'm overly optimistic in my statement. But I do think in the U.S. advances have been made in social acceptance of minorities recently. I think this is an important step in the right direction, that's what was on my mind when I wrote that. Then again, Former President Jimmy Carter said recently that the U.S. is no longer a democracy, it's become an oligarchy. Religion and politics are a dangerous combination. As you say, look at the middle east. I fear creationist politicians in this country. As for sub-Sahara Africa, we're not interested in that part of the world, there's no money to be made there. What is scary is the current POTUS pushes that anthropomorphic climate change exists.
