World's first 'medicinal' chocolate: Scientists have developed a bar so healthy it could be taken as medicine

The key ingredient in chocolate, cacao, contains antioxidants and minerals

Health benefits are negated by chocolate bars' high fat and sugar content

Company created prototype bar which has just 35 per cent sugar and fat

It 'unleashes the medical benefits of cacao,' said developers Kuka Xoco

I'll have to taste one before I give it a thumbs up...but it is a good idea to try and lower the fat and sugar in most things. I'm just not too sure about chocolate (yet).

Even if it tastes half as good as chocolate, I would be willing to switch.

I dunno, I like dark chocolate, like 70%+ cacao. Is there any difference?

Lilly I hope you remember that we established, in another thread, that aliens came here because of our chocolate.

Now we know why. :alien:

Dark chocolate is already healthy. 86% dark means there's 86% Cacao and only 14% available for sugar and fat.

Scientists didn't make it more medicinal, they just made the medicine less bitter, allegedly.

I wonder what that special plant extract is that removes the bitterness.

It does not sound like anything Willy Wonka will be making in his factory... at least not soon. I wonder if it has any side-effects.
