Sean Casteel: The uniquely American story of the Bell Witch haunting, in which a ghost took up residence in the home of a Tennessee farming family in 1817, began when John Bell, the head of the family, was out walking through his cornfield. He sighted a strange, doglike creature in the distance that suddenly disappeared. Around the same time, Bell's son and daughter were walking through an orchard when they noticed an old woman walking beside them. When the daughter spoke to the old woman, the old woman simply disappeared.

This is stranger than the story, where does it say Kentucky? I see Tennessee.

A really great read is "The Bell Witch The Full Account" by Pat Fitzhugh. He spent 25 years digging through records, historical data, church entries etc to make this book. I own it and I highly endorse. Many feel his research is to be the most accurate so far.

This movie trailer reminded me of the Bell Witch...

There was already at least one movie made out of the Bell Witch story. Not a very good movie in my opinion.

I grew up in Tennessee. I remember as a small child hearing about the Bell Witch. In my mind I thought she lived down the street. lol. my older siblings I think were always trying to scare us.
