Cop manhandles unruly student

Nobody has to be white to make this about race. There is very obviously a racial component. If there were not, then we probably wouldn't be discussing this now.

I agree that he seemed a little out of control. My guess is that he lost his temper while dealing with a smart ass kid. That said, he needed to find another job but my question remains - what does a school do when a teen decides to disrupt a class and no one can actually touch them? If she had refused to leave then how was he supposed to get her to go? Apparently he was the last step in a chain of events that SHE was controlling up to that point. THAT is what frustrates me about the whole thing. It seems we have given over control of our society to the lowest common denominator.

I don't think this is an issue of "no one can actually touch them" Had this man who proclaims to have a 600lb squat and 500lb bench press simply used that mass to lift her and the desk out of the classroom we would have a completely different thread going praising him.

The ONLY people i have heard mention race in this matter are WHITE PEOPLE saying the exact same thing you just did.

Every single News source states that the girl involved is BLACK..!!!! Every single article I have read and every single video I have seen. So...NO you are wrong.

Secondly....what WHITE people are ssaying is...STOP making it about race when it clearly is NOT...!

What is your race? I ask because , i have yet to see the usual racebaiters involved. No NAACP or sharpton or obama, no jesse jackson no black panthers. The only people I KNOW that have mentioned race have done so in just the manner that I addressed earlier.

So they should not report the facts of the incident? Should they have changed her skin tone in the video? THAT is bringing up race in America now, reporting the facts of a case? I assumed you meant bringing up race as a motive.

WHAT..???? Last News article I read about a killing....other than BLACK....never once mentions the race of the people involved...at leat 90% of time anyway.

And....since when is the color of your skin a FACT that needs to be reported..? If this had been a WHITE girl they wouldn't even have mentioned it.

Once again....the color of a person's skin is NOT relevant here. It may be in some cases...but definitely not this one. So....let's just drop the issue already.

We're told in that case, everyone else leaves and the teacher locks the door.

Again the ones screaming drop the issue are the only ones talking about the issue......facepalm

The point I'm trying to make is that the media is making a Race situation out of it.

Remember Ferguson and those other situations involving cops?

I've no doubt that the media sensationalizes events for a better story, as they typically do world over. That doesn't mean we have to. Hopefully we can just judge on what we see for ourselves?

To be honest, the first time I watched the video, I didn't even notice the ethnicity of the girl, she had a face full of brawny arm, followed by a face full of floor.

I'm no law enforcement specialist, but they could maybe have brought in a female officer for a start. Having a large muscular guy throwing an unarmed schoolgirl around is going to create exactly the kind of reaction were getting now. They could have cuffed her to the chair, and carried her out to an office where she wasn't disrupting the class, and dealt with the situation when it was diffused.

I don't think anyone here is arguing the girl was in the right, she just wasn't in the wrong to the extent that she deserved being assaulted, which effectively she was.

My first thoughts when I saw this on the news was - thug - coward - and bully.

It was a disgrace to treat such a young girl in this way.

This over zealous neanderthal cop should go to jail for assault and battery.

I hope they throw the book at the creep......

When I 1st became aware of the incident it was on NBC's FB Homepage. The media had to separate race by saying Black Student

and White Cop. Instead of Student and Cop. Seems to me they're fueling the fire.

I see a student that should be expelled

and a cop that should be jailed.

There must be a lot of stupid people at this stupid school.

Students walk out to show support for fired S.C. school deputy

"About 100 students at a South Carolina high school walked out of class briefly Friday to show support for a school resource officer fired after video showed him throwing an uncooperative black female student across the floor, according to local media and Twitter feeds.

The students walked out of classes at Spring Valley High School in Columbia, S.C., around 10 a.m. and gathered in the atrium to express their views on the firing of Deputy Ben Fields.

Some in the crowd — which included both black and white students — wore T-shirts reading "Free Fields" or "#BringBackFields."

Is there still any argument to how important context can be?

yep still stupid, it doesn't matter how many there are, mass of people doesn't account for credibility nor for justice, human history has proven that over and over, there are so many examples I could probably give you thousands

I agree. Both were wrong. I think all schools should have a policy that students keeps their phones in their lockers.

A lot of work places have that policy. And cops these days need to be retrained on how to deal with these situations.

i feel sorry for the cop, but the simple truth is, he lost his cool and acted completely unprofessionally and was fired for it. It's over and the right message has been sent.

The teacher should be fired for calling a cop, the school should be sued. This teacher must be very bad if she/ he calls a cop, thus I am not suprised this kid rebelled against her.

i feel sorry for the cop

Seriously you feel sorry for a man who is physically abusive towards women ?

What if it had been your daughter - sister - wife ?

I thought this cop had a history of violence - including an assault on a pregnant girl back in 2012 ?

but the simple truth is, he lost his cool and acted completely unprofessionally

It wasn't the first time this ape lost his cool - and there are no excuses for excessive 'over the top' force on an already emotionally troubled teenage girl.

and was fired for it.

Good - although he still should be jailed - or at least be made to do community service.

Hopefully he'll seek therapy - ie; anger management.

It's over and the right message has been sent.

Hopefully you are right - but unfortunately there will always be a rogue cop or more who think they are above the law - and take things to extreme....

Just found this on my FB page that a friend posted. But no National Coverage on this incident.

http://www.facebook....17641705030512/

If you would had posted a link to the Pearl Harbour attacks, it would had have the same relevance to the topic

as the FB link you posted, means, zero.

That's like me saying this topic isn't relevant to you since you're from Germany since this is American news.

O, I misread that. Also, I still can`t get used to the fact that in the USA there are cops at school. (It doesn't make the schools more secure though, considering how many shootings happened the past years)

Teachers call cops because if they touched a student they would be fired, sued, go to jail even for protecting themselves. What many are forgetting some of these kids are nothing more than thugs and will hurt you. They think they don't have to listen to anyone and can do what they want.
