Still Waters Posted November 22, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 22, 2015 (IP: Staff) · Mystery surrounds the death of up to 700 fish that have washed up dead at a popular fishing spot in Cockburn Sound, south of Perth. Fisheries Aquatic Environment manager Rae Burrows said it was not known at this stage what killed the fish. He said samples of the fish and the water where they were found would be tested, but the results wouldn't be available until next week. http://www.watoday.c...122-gl4usr.html http://www.dailymail...-Australia.html
Galactic Goatman Posted November 22, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 22, 2015 I say the suspects are gas, toxic waste, or chemicals. 4 Top
Ashotep Posted November 22, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 22, 2015 Fish, dophins, whales washing ashore dead, this seems to be happening more all the time. If the ocean were suffering from cancer I wonder what stage it would be at right now. 2 Top
Goodnite Posted November 22, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 22, 2015 Fish, dophins, whales washing ashore dead, this seems to be happening more all the time. If the ocean were suffering from cancer I wonder what stage it would be at right now. A lot of this is caused by ultra low frequency testing done by the worlds navies. 3 Top
Aardvark-DK Posted November 23, 2015 #5 Share Posted November 23, 2015 If it was 700.000 I would be worried...but let's keep a perspective here... Can't we sell them as sushi to the Japanese ?
Sundew Posted November 23, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 23, 2015 If I had to hazard a guess, the cause could be Dinoflagellates, sngle celled organisms that are responsible for fish kills in the Western Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico. Certain species cause red tide, producing a toxin deadly to many kinds sea life, not only fish and the fact that multiple species are affected suggests a toxin. It could also be some other type of algae bloom in the area which can seriously deplete oxygen levels in the water for miles around, causing fish to die of 02 starvation. 1 Top
Grandpa Greenman Posted November 23, 2015 #7 Share Posted November 23, 2015 Usually when that happens here in Florida it is red tide.
Nnicolette Posted November 23, 2015 #8 Share Posted November 23, 2015 I have heard of that goodnite. I think i first heard it from the discovery channels mermaid series but shame on the navy this needs to stop. They already know it kills everything in the vicinity why do they keep doing it and so secretly...
Lucas Cooper Merrin Posted November 23, 2015 #9 Share Posted November 23, 2015 It has been known for commercial fishing vessels to throw a stick of dynamite over the side, to deter predatory fish/seals etc from interfering with potential shoals and net lines, its also been known for certain illegal fishing boats to use the dynamite to stun/kill thousands of fish with the purpose of skimming them from the water with surface nets, either way this sounds like the repercussions of explosives and the fish have washed ashore
