Still Waters Posted December 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2015 It is an invention worthy of Willy Wonka - chocolate which does not melt in hot weather. Now a Swiss chocolatier claims to have conquered the technology which keeps chocolate solid even when exposed to temperatures of 38C. Barry Callebaut - the world's biggest seller of wholesale chocolate - has already started selling heat-resistant luxury chocolate, which can survive at 4 degrees higher than normal without disintegrating. http://www.dailymail...stant-bars.html

freetoroam Posted December 28, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 28, 2015 (edited) Probably the same ingredients as Viagra. Is Viagra unmeltable too? I am not sure about this unmelting chocolate, I like it dribbling down my chin on a hot summer day, its seems more natural that way. pallidin Posted December 28, 2015 #7 Share Posted December 28, 2015 (edited) I don't know if a 4 deg difference is significant, but apparently it is. All I know is that once I had some Hershey kisses in my pants pocket, forgot about them, then remembered them and reached for one. A gooey mess all over my hand and pocket. I'm pretty sure this also happened to me with a partial chocolate bar in my pocket. No jokes please Edited December 28, 2015 by pallidin
morphiouse1 Posted December 29, 2015 #8 Share Posted December 29, 2015 but we all like chocolate to melt quickly and coat the inside of our mouths. we call it creamy.
paperdyer Posted December 29, 2015 #9 Share Posted December 29, 2015 Mars took care of this years ago with the candy coating on M&M's. With the temperature required to melt the "Chocolate", there goes the slow savoring of a piece in you mouth as it candy slowly melts.
highdesert50 Posted December 29, 2015 #10 Share Posted December 29, 2015 Interesting to draw parallels between Viagra and chocolate. Some recent research has suggested that about 30 Calories of dark chocolate may affect mild high blood pressure. And, Viagra or sildenafil citrate was originally developed to treat high blood pressure and angina. I suppose, either way, our spirits can indeed by elevated when it's hot.
Yamato Posted December 29, 2015 #11 Share Posted December 29, 2015 Tells me it's luxury but doesn't tell me the ingredients. Cannot trust. So it won't melt even on a hot day, but how does it compare to other chocolate in taste and texture in cooler climes?
BiffSplitkins Posted December 29, 2015 #12 Share Posted December 29, 2015 Tells me it's luxury but doesn't tell me the ingredients. Cannot trust. Colonel Sanders kept his ingredients a secret too but that never stopped me from enjoying that finger lickin' goodness.
Shiriki-chan Posted March 5, 2016 #13 Share Posted March 5, 2016 Gross, that means it won't melt in my mouth. What's the point? Half of chocolate is the texture
