Still Waters Posted January 3, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2016 IT looks like a deadly alien from a terrifying sci-fi movie. But this bizarre-looking species is actually a harmless mushroom that has been found growing wild in the New Forest National Park. Ecologist Dan Hoare, who works for the charity Butterfly Conservation, was on a visit to the Forest when he came across the fungus. Minutes after his arrival foul-smelling tentacles burst from an egg-like sack and reached out into the air. http://www.dailyecho...d_in_Hampshire/

C.J. Posted January 4, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 4, 2016 It actually doesnt look much like a face hugger at all. It looks more like the giant gods off of the first hellboy movie.

Sundew Posted January 11, 2016 #10 Share Posted January 11, 2016 I have had two other Stinkhorn Fungi species come up in my yard one orange and the other more typical of a mushroom, white with a dark cap. They really do smell nasty, almost nauseating. And the second one was in the genus Phallus so you can guess what it looked like.
