Take a look at this...

Ted Cruz scares me because I know he will attack the Atheist's first if he is ever elected, taking away our rights and possibly our citizenship as well.

Well, while speaking to the American Family Association (a known anti-gay hate group), Cruz said that the only way this country can be saved is for evangelicals to rise up and vote for politicians who’ll pass legislation based upon Biblical principles. “Nothing is more important in the next 18 months than that the body of Christ rise up and that Christians stand up, that pastors stand up and lead,” Cruz said. “In this last election, 54 million evangelical Christians stayed home. If we can simply bring Christians to the polls – is it any wonder we have the government we have – we have the leaders we have if believers stay home and leave electing our leaders to unbelievers. We get exactly what we deserve and nothing is more important that having people of faith stand up and just vote our values, vote biblical values and that’s how we turn the country around.”

He didn't say a word about taking away anyone's rights or citizenship. Over reaction imo. We have a Constitution that allows you believe or not to believe in God. That's protection enough for me.

I think you're scaring yourself man. This isn't medieval England. What exactly is he going to do that you're afraid of? What rights does an atheist have that he can taken away?

Cruz definitely has a religious base and I'm not part of that but I will be voting for him if he's still around when I get to vote.

I agree Cruz is a wacko and after listening to one of his rally's I think he has a problem with the truth when it comes to Trump. Maybe he should start by honoring a religious value of telling the truth.

I won't vote for him but I wouldn't be so sure laws couldn't be passed favoring the religious if you got enough of them in office.

Ted Cruz's 'America First' national and foreign policies are certainly appealing in these uncertain times. But that's about it. The guy is a religious nut in the true sense of the word. Indeed he shouldn't be put anywhere near the White House unless the U.S. wants to turn into a theocracy.

I am not American and thankfully don't have to worry about him having anything to do with me, but from what I have seen he is for sure a whack not much better than Bush Senior who also hates atheists. Bigotry of any kind should not be tolerated in a leader, to be frank, I am bewildered as to how he has gotten as far as he has. I realise with people like Trump in there you do not have much choice, but if it was my choice, I would rather see Donald Duck as a leader than this evangelical nutter.

I reckon you hit the nail on the head myself, I'd be concerned if a zealous evangelical was in a position where he even might have any power. I have no idea what people see in him.

Theocracy? Dude... have you ever heard of Hollywood? Internet porn? The idea that anyone could force Americans to believe in or even respect God is preposterous. It's like being scared of ....

Uncle Sam
Below I will answer any and all questions that comes up regarding religion in the United States to better help people understand. This is a Question and Answer for the most common questions that I hear from people who are too lazy or uninformed to understand that religion has no place in the government and schools.

Question: Are Candidates Required to Take Religious Test Before Running For Senate, House of Representatives, Mayor Office, or President?

Answer: Absolutely Not

Not only is it not true, it is unconstitutional to require a religious test any candidate for any office in the government. Many Americans are misinformed by politicians who are religious in nature that non-believers are not eligible to hold any position in the government by both democrats and republicans. Saying this isn't unconstitutional because it is protected by free speech, but denying a atheist the ability to run for any office in the government is unconstitutional. No candidate is required to tell their religious or non-religious status to the population; neither should the media display their religious status unless the candidate specifically states otherwise.

"The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the members of the several state legislatures, and all executive and judicial officers, both of the United States and of the several states, shall be bound by oath or affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States." *1

Question: Is The United States a Christian Nation?

Answer: No.

United States is an secular nation. The founding fathers went out of their way to empathize that United State never was or shall never be a Christian nation. Over the past 8 years the Christian population have been proclaiming that United States is a Christian nation, a misguided notion which is false, which paves way for misinformation that misleads the uninformed population. To allow United States to become a Christian nation would mean violating the constitution.

"As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion,-as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen,-and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries." *2

Question: Is It Okay For Religion to Be Placed In Schools and Government?

Answer: Most Definitely Not!

The founding fathers specifically written in the constitution that separation of church and state should be maintained at all times. The reason for this is because the founding fathers knew all too well what the churches can do when it is in control of a nation because they just got finished fighting a war against England which was controlled by the churches at the time. United States shouldn't ever make religious laws or allow religion to be taught in public schools (Government Schools), Regardless which religion is being used at the time.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." *3

“The divorce between Church and State ought to be absolute. It ought to be so absolute that no Church property anywhere, in any state or in the nation, should be exempt from equal taxation; for if you exempt the property of any church organization, to that extent you impose a tax upon the whole community.” *4

Conclusion: Not only does religion isn't suppose to hold any sway over United Sates, for it to do so is unconstitutional and un-American. To support religion rule over United States is to support Theocracy rule over United States.

Sadly he doesn't get this... I am laying all the information bare for those who want to read and research up on it. I have sources and everything. Ted Cruz is Unconstitutional by far and Most Un-American out of all the candidates there.

Also this is where he said he is Christian First and American Second.

All the Republican candidates scare me. There are many ways for a President to stamp his agenda on society. These candidates religious views include many Biblical doctrines that are interpreted by these Christian fundamentalists that would be repressive to the freedoms won by many minorities in this country.

I think the trend in America is toward liberalism, which is why these fundamentalists have become so prominent, angry and determined to shove their beliefs down citizens throats. I can't see anyone but Hillary becoming our next President. She has weaknesses of her own, but at least she will save us from the Republican's interpretation of the Body of Christ becoming the Body of Government.

It's almost funny how the little Sunday School teacher and head of the senate prayer group Hillary has so many people fooled.

Theocracy? Dude... have you ever heard of Hollywood? Internet porn? The idea that anyone could force Americans to believe in or even respect God is preposterous. It's like being scared of ....

Stay-puft-marshmallow-man.jpg

Many do consider the US so close to a theocracy that it might be considered one. Not quite the case, but not far off it either, there is loads of religious influence in everyday items. Whilst there are workarounds for it, there are laws in several states that state that in order to hold office one must believe in a "creator" i.e. God. The US identifies as "One Nation Under God" and according to polls, atheists are the least likely to hold office by preference, indicating a brainwash of the majority.

Why can't we just be who we are, which is a million different things, without being constantly bombarded with negative connotations, accusations of being feckless brainwashed drones and incessant holier than thou lectures? We are the greatest country the world has ever known in every way and those ways that you loathe have put US on top of the world. Nobody does more than US and few do any one thing better.

I certainly don't know the men on a personal level but from what I've read he often seems to get his religious and political priorities mixed up. That alone is worrying. Also, the fact that he is part of a fundamentalist church advocating Dominion theology is nothing to reassure secular-minded people either.

The christian counts for 70% of the population of United States, if they decided to ban together and chooses to elect a person like Ted Cruz, we are screwed because there be no way to stop him or her from being elected.

Really - the US does EVERYTHING better than anyone else hey?

I guess that has to include "Stuff up" too then? ;)

That is part of being human F3SS, and you have a false superiority complex happening there. We all make mistakes, we have all been indoctrinated into relgion. We can all say we were forced into this brainwashing, but if you say you do it best, so be it.

And you call the US the greatest place on earth, when you have never been to Australia - for shame!

What about Uncle Sam's rights - the OP? He is an atheist, and his rights are being curbed by the zealous religious majority. Yes relgion is brainwashing, do you do that best too? I would have thought the Middle East had you beat hands down there, but hey, there we go. Your words.

My protest is against relgion. The US has a huge population, and with indoctrination, it stands to reason your religious problems will be more, varied and diverse. Can you fault any of the points I made up there that seem to have offended you?

Have a look at your own polls, do not rely on me for links, some will consider them biased. Do a Google yourself. How do Atheists rate with the US public who vote?

And what about this nonsense from Bush Senior as reported by Robert Sherman - should you not be opposed to Bigotry no matter where it is found?

When George Bush was campaigning for the presidency, as incumbent vice-president, one of his stops was in Chicago, Illinois, on August 27, 1987. At O'Hare Airport he held a formal outdoor news conference. There Robert I. Sherman, a reporter for the American Atheist news journal, fully accredited by the state of Illinois and by invitation a participating member of the press corps covering the national candidates, had the following exchange with then-Vice-President Bush.

Sherman: What will you do to win the votes of the Americans who are atheists?

Bush: I guess I'm pretty weak in the atheist community. Faith in God is important to me.

Sherman: Surely you recognize the equal citizenship and patriotism of Americans who are atheists?

Bush: No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God.

Sherman (somewhat taken aback): Do you support as a sound constitutional principle the separation of state and church?

Bush: Yes, I support the separation of church and state. I'm just not very high on atheists.

On October 29, 1988, Mr. Sherman had a confrontation with Ed Murnane, cochairman of the Bush-Quayle '88 Illinois campaign. This concerned a lawsuit Mr. Sherman had filed to stop the Community Consolidated School District 21 (Chicago, Illinois, suburb) from forcing his first-grade atheist son to pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States "one nation under God" (Bush's phrase). The following conversation took place.

Sherman: American Atheists filed the Pledge of Allegiance lawsuit yesterday. Does the Bush campaign have an official response to this filing?

Murnane: It's bull****.

Sherman: What is bull****?

Murnane: Everything that American Atheists does, Rob, is bull****.

Sherman: Thank you for telling me what the official position of the Bush campaign is on this issue.

Murnane: You're welcome

This suit, now in federal district court for over three years, is not considered to be bull**** by the federal judge before whom it is pending. During the time it has been in the federal court, Robert Sherman's son, now age nine, has been physically and psychologically brutalized in his school for refusing to pledge to a "nation under God."

After Bush's election but before his taking office, American Atheists wrote to Bush asking that he consider being sworn into office on the Constitution instead of the Bible and also asking him to retract his August 1987 statement. Bush had his White House buddy, C. Boyden Gray, counsel to the president, reply on White House stationery on February 21, 1989, stating that substantively Bush stood by his original statement.

"As you are aware, the President is a religious man who neither supports atheism nor believes that atheism should be unnecessarily encouraged or supported by the government.

Even your money has "In God We Trust" so it shows up in your face every day. It's not the US, the globe faces this subliminal brainwashing system put in place by organised relgion. You have more people, so it will be more noticeable. People like Uncle Sam do not come under this complaint, they are fighting for their rights, so it's not the people is it, it is the authorities who initiate these underhanded and devious practices to make people conform.

You do realise I am an atheist as well?

On your money, ingrained in your politics, being forced into schools, creation museums, heck mate, has all that lot slipped past you?

You know what is on Britain's Ten Dollar Bill? Darwin. That is definitely more in line with the times.

Over 90% of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were Christian. There was no way to stop them, and some people alive back then were just like you, the Loyalists thinking we were screwed.

I have serious doubts that Cruz is Christian at all. His only chance to win is to pretend to be one. Even that isn't looking very likely. The guy Hardly won his home state.

Cruz is a creature of the "religious" right. An especially loud, dumb, and violent group of bottom feeders who hide their evil behind the Cross, just like the irreligious left.

Does anyone seriously think Trump is a Christian, or do they just like being lied to? "My favorite book" my ass. He's as Christian as he is anti Establishment.

The founding fathers understood the dangers off organized religion. They were fresh off a war with England that was controlled by the churches at the time. Heck they went out of their way to make sure everyone understood, with hundreds of quotes and sayings, as well as using the newspaper to explain to the residents. *Rolls Eyes.*

We had all trust in our founding fathers for they are the ones that written the constitution the way it is, promising atheists the same freedoms as everyone else. You know what? Atheists can't hold office in several states, Atheists can't tell their religion without being discriminated against by job hiring bosses, and Atheists most picked on by the politicians that seem to not understand the constitution. You are trying so hard to paint me in the bad light, making me out as targeting Christians, but you got to understand, us Atheists have a legitimate fear of Christians who are very vocal about their hatred towards us. It be like Hitler rising to power because he blamed the Jews.

I am also fighting for the rights of others as well. The constitution is something I value a lot, it is quite beautiful written that doesn't place no race or religion above anyone else. Yet here we are today watching Religion dominate the government and it is getting worse with each passing election. Heck the recent laws themselves incorporate religion in it, he Anti-LGBT laws that passed is a violation of the constitution, placing one religion above all other religions.

Except that all christians don't agree with each other. Liberal christians will not vote for Cruz no matter what. He's too extreme. They will choose Hilary or Sanders before that. Cruz is appealing only to the evangelical right who still think that religion (christianity) needs to shape U.S. policies both at home an abroad.
